Arcade Fire – Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) Lyrics 15 years ago
The first verse tells about a narrator who is unhappy with her life. Her bosses are squashing her spirit and creativity. Her days are meaningless, but at night she still feels something calling out to her, calling her to leave the suburbs and go to the city.

2nd verse: Starts out describing a happy memory, but turns on that and describes how life in the suburbs makes them question everything they do. The city is also not an option anymore, perhaps because they've started to question their lives.

chorus: fairly obvious. Sprawl so big that it seems endless. So many shopping malls crowd around each other that they each seem like just another mountain in an endless range. The narrator longs for darkness, could mean wilderness, or nature, or just some place they feel at peace with.
