The Used – Sold My Soul Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about helping somebody or yourself, and how much you would do to save them. It also might mean saving you from yourself. Like, "sold my life to bring the rain" "sold my soul to stop the pain" He's willing to give his life to help someone, or he's saying he's better dead than what he's going through maybe? But then he says "all your fear, all our shame, you know that you can lay it all on my" and that's where I get it's about helping or saving someone else. It's kind of like he realizes that his life isn't going anywhere "I think of the worm that I've become, left blind from the brightness of your halo" so it's worth giving his soul to save this "angel" because he might as well not even have a soul he's sank so low, and he's thinking what's it matter? The main theme of the album - coming to grips with how much you hate yourself - isn't show as strongly in any other song on the album but this one. If I could rate it, 20/10.

The Used – Watered Down Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about Bert's career as a singer, and how in his early days he ruined his voice. I think that the song is designed to not mention it blatantly, but hide it within the song. Watered down, meaning less powerful. "Nothing that I can hold on to with my broken hands" hands referring to his singing and "holding on" as in he's going to do it anyway, because it's his life. I think "don't care what you say, cuz it makes no difference if I throw it away" is a smack in the face to the people who say he can't sing anymore (which he can). Kind of like he's giving them a big fuck you, and he's going to do what he wants to. To me, "makes no difference if I throw it away" is kind of like sarcasm, like if you were in a fight and someone tells you they're going to kick your ass, and then your all like "I don't give a shit, do it."
