I love the power this song has,and how "fuck you" it is, and I like how he spells Gloria at the end. Since before that, I didn't know what the heck Billie was doing at the end of the song. Aside from the Christian and Gloria story line, this song makes me think about the military for some reason. Espeically the line" almost really only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades" Like it's a mockery of the war. But then, that's just my take on the song. (: |

| I'm suprised no one's commented about this one yet. It's beautiful song, pretty much about gorwing up. I have a feeling the song is about Adrienne,or possibly maybe Joey, unless Billie didn't write it. If Mike or Tre wrote it, it might make a little more sense since they both have daughters. I've always felt this song is definatly politically based, and a big anti-war song. For me the "one...21 guns" is the repetion of surrerending. Out of all the lines in this song, I love the first 2. It's a line that has become important to me, because if you wouldn't die for a cause that's really important to you(such as war in this case), then maybe it isn't so important to you afterall. |

I love this song. Oh Tre. Apparently Billie let Tre sing at some concert long ago, probably around Kerplunk or Dookie times and thus, Tre's random songs were born. You might have to search youtube to even hear the song, it's not on a CD and it's hard to find. |

No idea why I'm replying to an old topic, but this song is about Billie Joe coming to terms with his bisexuality. I have the article to prove it, and Billie quotes"I think I've always been bisexual." To everyone who says he isn't, or that it's just a phase, it isn't. Why would Billie lie about being bi? As for "but he loves Adrienne, he can't be bi! hes with a girl" Not all bisexual people fall in love with someone of the same sex, it just means they like the same sex. Billie can still be bi and be in love with Adie. To the biphobic/homophobic fans of Green Day: you guys aren't true fans if you can't tolerate them, or their sexual prefences. Green Day are in no means homophobic(which people have claimed to say) especially since an opening band for a concert was once Pansy Division,and Billie saw fans flipping the band off, in which Billie said he was appalled by the homophobic fans. As for the song: I love it. It's a song I feel I can relate too, and I think it's amazing. It's definatly one of my favorite songs. |
