I agree it's about the world, at first I thought it was compairing a girl to the earth, because it IS beautiful. Maybe it's about being one with the world and how we need eachother. He speaks of how he needs her tears(rain) to survive, and 'its only a matter of time' before we're all dust and a part of the world, or even a matter of time before the world is destoried by us (Rotating, I'm shaking, I hope you turn around in time). 'Youre the habit that I cant quit' means we can't live without what the earth has given us. But, it's a beautiful song no matter the interpritation. |

I'm agnostic, and every time I hear this I feel a little less alone. To me it's about not knowing or caring what happens when we die. Life of sin looks sweet and it's how I want to live, and I'll live the rest of my days until my eyes close, because that's the only day I'll know if there really is a man in a room. It's definately about questioning God and if we should all follow blindly. I'm not trying to be offensive and I don't think this song is, either. I was raised Christian and a majority of my family and friends are and I respect them... But I still openly question religion, and I still live what others see as a sinful life. |

It sounds to me like he's purposely broken up a couple in hopes of getting with the girl and being 'her cure'. Or even, if you want to take it to a darker place- It sounds like he's wanting her to get hurt just so he can be there to take care of her, hoping for an accident so he can be the one to fix everything for her... But things get out of control, and the end sounds like it's turned on him and ended up hurting himself. Not my favorite song lyrically, but I love the first minute of the song, especially how he first says 'emergency', and the laughing is chilling me to the bone. |
