It's the person that connects to the song, not the song that connects to the person. Because I can connect to every single one of their songs... I think you just aren't reading into the lyrics. |

I think you mean Fitcher's Bird? It's very similar to Bluebeard's Wife, where there's some insane guy who kills a bunch of girls and keeps them in this room and tells his latest girl not to go through the door but she does anyway, etc. Anywho, Obsession Is Such An Ugly Word is based on that. |

I wouldn't say that it's the first and ONLY love song. I think that almost ALL of their songs are love songs, to an extent. It just depends. Usually, though, it's sort of a conflicted love, or a painful one. Maybe the loss of a loved one, like in Early Mourning. It's just that this song is the only one with the direct "I love you" message. |

Even though it's been said a few times before, I thought that I should restate it: it's "Mourning" rather than "Morning."
What I gathered from this song is that the narrator's lover died rather unexpectedly and at a young age. ("Goodbyes, your eyes left to die" and "I hope the stars still spell out your name where you are") He goes through the process of grief and mourning over her death. ("Why not one more night, one last kiss goodbye") Slowly, he's drawn into a deep depression without her. ("Help me sleep without you I'm so lost" and "Tonight I cry, tell me why") Eventually, he begins to struggle with the idea of suicide. ("I'll see you soon" and "Let me live")
Basically, it's almost like a Romeo and Juliet thing going on. One dies, and the other can't live without them, so they turn to suicide in hopes of seeing each other again on the other side. It's a tragic love story brought to life by an AMAZING band. |
