This song, reminds me a lot of the art of flirtation and seduction... and all the flutters that come with it... where the guy is smitten and emboldened, and the girl is playing hard to get. MJ has given a wonderful groove to the song, proving how, despite a 3 year hiatus from the music business that he is still master at his own game. The vocals at the ending... is a testament to his unchallenged status as the King of Pop.. reading the lyrics (song lyrics were created by Floetry) alone does not do justice to the song, to appreciate mj, you have to listen to the man whip it out with his flighty soothing vocals, and his genius ability to come up with harmony.. judging from the lyrics itself.. it seems that the central theme here is passionate lust, but mj being the king of lyrical interpretation, sings it with so much conviction and passion that it gives the song an added dimension.. almost like he wants more than just lust, he really wants love. |

For some reason I think he is singing about a variety of social problems that michael has seen in his lifetime.. like unplanned pregnancy, leeches in his life, irresponsibility.. and also lazy, insignificant people.. who just want to leech of you... because they can't do or rather won't do anything for themselves (like a vegetable).. for some funny reason.. i feel like his writing from stories he heard about the circumstances who seem to be hapless in their pathetic condition... who keep getting in trouble and can't get their act straightened out.. and how that kind of life.. where you don't think through.. aim high.. or strive to get up... will be a never ending cycle of problems. and he tells it as it is.. If You Cant Feed Your Baby (Yeah, Yeah)Then Don't Have A Baby (Yeah, Yeah) seemingly, out of frustration... and irritation... or maybe he is just portraying... what ppl usually say, when it comes to other people's troubles.. in this case a girl, who has an unplanned pregnancy, and is struggling to cope... yet there's compassion... which makes me think that this song may have been triggered by something that happened within his family. mj show's that he knows how when someone is going through a rough time.. other ppl talk.. ppl hurt... ppl say hurtful things... I think he's saying to the people that look your situation is bad.. but you can't stay in that situation... u just have to over come this.. lift your head up high.. and believe in you, and believe in me... and it becomes a song that strives to motivate... and push... |

| Ever since I was a little girl.. I'd get all dancey.. when this song plays.. I never really cared to find out what the lyrics were.. until recently.. and the part on buffet and vegetable ... really cracks me up now.. what the hell is that about?!! did anyone ask michael about it? did he just make up lyrics.. when he came up with the melody of the song.. it seems like that.. it seems like just random lyrics.. being uttered ... but its an unbelievable super classic. Its a guy-guy song... MJ is showing off all the tools in his shed.. like his audio.. and db, and their what not... its the kind of song that would drive guys would go crazy... and leave ladies like myself clueles, cause I reall do not care for guys' toys... Maybe it has some sexual inuendo...maybe it doesn't.... but noeing guys.. and how they can talk about their tools.. or their toys.. like it gives them some kind of weird pleasure... there might be totally no sexual reference at all.. for mj. he is tools are things related to music.. that makes him feel like a man and in charge.. k fine.. not the kind of song.. u use by the way.. to woo a lady. |

I have friends.. who come from war torn countries.. who listen to this song... and love it.. the rhythm is like a battle song, and it gives courage. Its not a hateful song, though. Because the nature of the lyrics.. with it's association to Martin Luther King and the likes.. make it more like an anthem calling for justice. As I said, my friends listen to it and the rhythm kicks in..somehow drumming in the courage to face injustice each day. And it turns out that the drummers are from this Brazilian pro-peace group Olodum. By the way, my friends can't really understand English.. but somehow the music just speaks to them. It's unbelievable really. I think this is one of Michael's very powerful songs on the human condition. It is effective and it hits all the right notes.. I am also certain that the part where he sings about having a wife and 2 children.. is something to do with his former wife Lisa Marie Presley. And police brutality.. well maybe not brutality.. but more like cruelty.. the things that they made him go through.. |

Did anyone tell you that you are a freaking genius?! I have been trying to analyze the song ever since I was a kid. And I think you really understood Mike as a song writer. He is a very deep person, and a lot of what you say matches up to him very very closely. He may be black, and proud of it.. but never at the expense of a universal brotherhood... |
