| The Script – Breakeven Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is about a guy who lost his chance to be with a great woman. The connection was strong but she couldn't wait around for him so she did what she had to do and moved on. Now he regrets not taking the next step with her and he can't stop thinking about her. | |

Regardless of the purpose of the song. I think of the title "Wading in the velvet sea" as floating around in a sea of love. Maybe because I'm a hopeless romantic at heart. Everytime I hear this song I picture a person floating around in a red sea of love hoping to find that special someone. I think the first lines "I took a moment from my day, Wrapped it up in things you say, Mailed it off to your address, You'll get it pretty soon unless" Means that the person has had feelings for this other person and is trying to get rid of them somehow or trying to end a relationship, so he/she tries to possbily physically mail them something maybe a letter or something but it doesn't help because no matter what, "The packaging begins to break, And all the points I tried to make, Are tossed with thoughts into a bin, Time leaks out my life leaks in" this person can't stop thinking about them and can't end this relationship...maybe it's a toxic relationship...maybe it is destiny. As for the final verse- "You won't find moments in a box, And someone else will set your clocks, I took a moment from my day, Wrapped it up in things you say, And mailed it off to you" means that sure he/she can write the letter or tell them that you are over them but no matter what this person you are trying to forget...you just can't because you don't have control over your destiny "someone else will set your clocks." It might be in fact meant to be. |

"See I've been to hell and back so many times I must admit you kinda bore me" One of the best lyrics in a Ray song. Incredible... |

When I first heard this song I immediately thought it was about the death of a loved one. "There's nothing I can say, nothing I can do to bring you back again" sounds like the end of something. |

| Ben Harper – Roses From My Friends Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I have thought about the meaning of this song for quite some time. Although I can see how the meaning could be interpreted by the end of a relationship... I also tend to believe that the song is about betrayal, an ending of some sort, possibly a death. The "stones from my enemies" is kind of an obvious meaning. He is strong enough to handle people he hardly knows possibly talking badly about him or judging him or betraying him once. However, "the roses from my friends" I believe symbolizes betrayal or death in a sense. I intrepret the roses in terms of throwing roses on someone's casket at a funeral. Roses at a funeral symbolize death or the finality of something. "Roses from my friends" is kind of the last straw for him. No more chances in a sense. |
