Röyksopp – This Must Be It Lyrics 14 years ago
I like all the above interpretations. This song is amazing and Karin's lyrics are even more esoteric than usual. I think the words are:

two elements collide in my open hand
making me a viewer
I am water and sand

Tricky – Aftermath (Hip Hop Blues) Lyrics 14 years ago
I may be wrong here, but I thought the lyric was:

'for one more poor boy
there's someone

for him
for she

for one more poor boy
there's someone

for him
for me'

TV on the Radio – DLZ Lyrics 14 years ago
Dust is actually slang for crystal meth, which is the worst drug of them all. Cocaine is powder. Angel dust is pcp. Devil's dust is meth. Neither heroin nor cocaine resemble dust especially.
I daresay TVOTR may dabble in a little recreational drug use themselves. Though i am not stating that factually, before anyone cracks the shits. Just don't think they would be anti-drug enough to write such a beautifully hateful song like this about dealers. It sounds more personal than that. (IMHO)

TV on the Radio – DLZ Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is an incredible piece of poetry. All of their stuff is but the use of metaphor and when Tunde starts with 'y'all could use a doctor - who's sick' is just wicked.

Was reading on their website that the song is a giant 'fuck-you' to someone in particular, wherein (if i'm understanding it correctly), he hypothesizes, that this person's death would be a giant favor to humanity, and their last chance to make up for all the harm they've caused.

What a masterful way of saying it! I could be wrong but that's the way it spoke to me personally. Like 'die before you ruin even more shit'. The person is a death professor maybe because they are so good at destroying things.

In any case this is one of my favorite songs ever. Never heard anything like it.

Fever Ray – Keep the Streets Empty For Me Lyrics 14 years ago
Loved reading all the comments for this incredible song. So interesting to learn she is singing as a deer. It makes the song even more unique and haunting.
I think Karin Dreijer Andersson is one of the most creative, imaginative songwriters out there.

What a mind she has, making the narrator an animal! It changes the title's meaning completely too- for a human, empty streets are desolate and foreboding. For a deer, they are safe and comforting. I agree though, she probably has a very strong personal story to attach to this song and the deer is some kind of metaphor.

Marilyn Manson – Apple Of Sodom Lyrics 14 years ago
i love the speed bump mannequin metaphor. Makes me think of those crash test dummies that have to stand there until the car knocks them down.
could also be a double entendre, speed bumps as in bumps of amphetamine (as they call them)- and the 'mannequin' has been doing so much speed he can't move. just a theory. don't listen to a lot of manson's stuff but there is something brilliant about this song.

The Knife – Like a Pen Lyrics 14 years ago
I thought this song was a drug analogy. To sharpen her body by sticking a needle into it, back on the mountain again (high), and the drug is her only friend, while she is sitting and picking at herself until daylight comes.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought she sings 'guiding with one single hit',as in, a hit of heroin or whatever, although this doesn't really sound like a smacky kind of song! But i think the entire song is a drug reference.
