It sounds to me, like it could be a pair of friends, or a couple. The person is singing to his/her friend, or lover, about how, after all they've learnt about each other (I think I taught you well - particularly about his or her own strength) that 1) they won't run away from hardship and 2) he or she will stay by the other person's side even though everyone deserts or will not wait for them. Which brings to the second verse, where their relationship will stay the same, hopefully as strong as ever. Ghosts, mountains of fear, the black sea, the creatures below the deck; they'll conquer them all, 'Cause you're my king and I'm your lion-heart.' Maybe it applies to me just because of the place I am in now. maybe I wished I was someone's lionheart. or maybe I could be utterly wrong. Though definitely my favourite song of a massively 'favourited' album. |
