| Joy Division – Ceremony Lyrics | 16 years ago |

For the record, whoever shared that "the Xiu Xiu cover is much better" should be confined to a mental institution because that's is absolute blasphemy. The song was originally written by Joy Division and never made it to vinyl because of Ian Curtis' early and unfortunate death. The song was on the bill for their final live performance at the University of Birmingham. Ceremony was played in the sound check and once during the concert. There is no studio copy of this song performed by Joy Division, but the live version is found on the "Out of the Room" LP. The New Order cover of Ceremony is what everyone hears most of the time. There is in fact a slowed-down version, but that too is New Order. This song is not about Deborah, it is about Annik Honor. Annik was what caused Ian's life to unstably turn for the worst. Though he had an affair with her, she made him miserable because he loved Deborah, but rarely saw her. The ceremony, as Shinikaru mentions in their post, is what the meaning of this song essentially is. Read that post to get the meaning. The only song that could possibly rival the beauty of Ceremony is Atmosphere, but only because it is much deeper, richer, and pious than Ceremony. Both songs, respectively, are heart-breaking. |

| Have a Nice Life – Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Raw and enlightening. The title will throw you off, no doubt about that, as will the line "just tell me who's mother I have to kill," but the song is a reflection of life. The "wolves" are humans, and though we sometimes we do not realize it, the actions, perception, and beliefs that we hold against other people and that are attributed by harsh opinion and brutal misconception, in the end, tear us apart morally. We plot against one another, sometimes in harmless gossip or in full-blown world wars, and this leads to self-destruction because as one goes down, we all go down. "We're living on borrowed time" is common sense: our lives are too short to begin with and to not utilize the time we have on Earth is a waste. "And it looks like they want it back" is a reference to death, when (depending on your beliefs) we die and "meet our maker". | |
| Klaxons – Golden Skans Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"Golden Skans" originates from the aggregates of Self in Buddhism called "skandhas". Though there is no belief in Buddhism that the "Self" exists, each skandha, which there are five, are a collection of essences that make up a person. The reference into the Klaxons song is in partnership with the use of lights, especially in the video. Like the skandhas, light is what brightens a dark area and in Buddhism, the skandhas are intended to set who a person is and the realization of what their purpose on Earth is for, all for the final goal of nirvana, or ultimate enlightenment. As far as the song goes, it is an addicting song, and the remix by SebastiAn (french DJ) is almost more intoxicating. |
