Blue October – Come in Closer Lyrics 16 years ago
One thing that I've noticed is that in this song he mentions the "clowns put on makeup for show". In Somebody he says "Realized the makeup is for a clown/The clown I knew of months ago". But on the album, Somebody comes before (right before) this song. If it weren't for the live version of Somebody where on Argue with a Tree he mentions that this was about the band not doing well and such, I would almost say that these two songs are related. I mean, you could take it to mean that first /he/ felt mistreated by /her/ so he could have cheated or whatever. The line from Somebody "Promised only sky but given ground" could be related to the images of the sky, rain, a freeway, sand, etc found in this song.
"Come dancing with devils..." "So here we are now, face to face" The test in Somebody, while in Come in Closer he's saying the truth is lethal, just a lie. Before he wouldn't cheat (on test but still, what exactly /is/ the test?") and in this song he's, or was, cheating.

I mean honestly I could connect all the songs on this album into a story about just one relationship, but the clown makeup image was very striking to me.

Maybe I'm way off track... :/

Blue October – Calling You Lyrics 16 years ago
Mmm this song is so wonderful.

I don't know that there are necessarily other guys that she picked him over, I think he's just so amazed that he got this girl that he's so in love with. I mean, there may be others she could have picked too, but that's not a given. It's just hard for him to grasp the concept that someone he loves so much actually feels the same way towards him.

And haha I was just looking up the lyrics for fun and then it came on my ipod on shuffle.

I need to go see them live again some time...

Blue October – Ugly Side Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is so beautiful. The Answer and History for Sale are my two favorite albums of theirs. This band's lack of popularity is surprising, of course it's gone up since Foiled and their tour with Stephanie Meyer, but I must say I like them for being so amazing and obscure. You know, it makes meeting another fan so much more special. I could just talk for hours about this band. Haha I wish I had heard of them before Foiled though, I'd feel so much more special. xD But yeah, Into the Ocean was the first I heard of them on the radio years ago haha.
Anyways, this song and Chameleon Boy are probably my favorite, well aside from The Answers. That songs is just like my life story half the time. All of their lyrics are so powerful though, however I'm disappointed with Approaching Normal. Ah well, at least I finally have a version of Kangaroo Cry. I love all the 5591 songs, I wish Justin would make a cd with just him singing his old songs. The Scar is so amazing, it makes me cry xD

The Antlers – Sylvia Lyrics 16 years ago
It says Sylvia, not Sylvio. The album is about death, hospitals, cancer, etc, so I think that the thermometer is not supposed to be taken in a sexual context. If you read the Prologue as well (found in the lyric booklet that comes witht he album) you might understand this song more...

The Antlers – Shiva Lyrics 16 years ago
I would say it's just because he's putting himself in her place once she's gone. I could be wrong, but that seems the most logical reason. As in, he's putting himself in her bed, giving himself the cancer (not literally), etc, so then he would (figuratively) have switchted the portacaths from her body to his.

Didn't your teachers ever tell you that WIkipedia can have false information? lmao
No but serious, just because a website that anyone can edit says it's true doesn't mean it's true.

Well, keep in mind that books have subplots. Think of this song as a subplot to the cancery story if you're taking this all in a storyline (as it's meant to be taken I believe).

The line is as it was posted, "we're not getting unfucked soon"
Meaning their problems aren't going away. Abortion or not.

No, the patient is the wife of the singer. If you listen to the entire album (Hospice) you'll notice the story line. Hence the songs named Prologue and Epilogue.

To clarify, I know she's dead now. I used present tense as in the present time of this song. (Did that make sense?)

The Antlers – Two Lyrics 16 years ago
She didn't get cancer during their relationship. She had been struggling with it since she was at least twelve. (Maybe before that, I'm not sure) And their entire relationship was only due to the fact that she had cancer, he met her when he was working at the hospital (I believe).
From the lyrics of this song, I'm guessing that they never entirely believed she was really sick when she was younger [they thought you were lying] and obviously she had a very poor relationship with her parents. They didn't notice her eating disorders.
I don't get any feeling of split personalities or schizophrenia or whatever from this song though. I mean, Sylvia has mood swings, but I'd say they were more based off of fear and frustration. Her life is slipping away and she needs a scapegoat. And his love is unconditional enough that he lets her treat him poorly.
I dunno, that's just how I see it.
