Rammstein – Spring (English) Lyrics 15 years ago
"I creep onto the bridge in secret
and kick him in the back from behind
I redeem him from this shame
and I scream to him

Jump"

I think this part is amazing, when reading it and listening to the song I imagined Till actually kicking the man, then looking at him and screaming at him "Spring" as he falls in slow motion.

I have to say I really like this interpretation of the song, I had heard that this is what the song is about before I knew it had anything to do with Moby Dick. Pentsawse I don't think you should discard this theory because there is an obvious literal meaning. The metaphorical meaning makes a lot of sense as well if you think about it, the entire song fits perfectly.

Are you sure he didn't mean only one song is explicitly about Rasputin?
In a lot of the songs I have seen the relevance of the Rasputin story as well as the story of Skye. But then that could just be due to the fact that Mastodon songs have so many potential interpretations.

Yeah I agree and I think the line the rivers ran in blood refers to Rasputin dying in a river as well as both of his siblings when he was a child.

Mastodon – The Czar: Usurper/Escape/Martyr/Spiral Lyrics 16 years ago
I read a bit about Rasputin the other day, and to me it seems like "beauties sudden hand" is a reference to the prostitute Khionia Guseva that attempted to murder him by stabbing him in the body with a knife.

The words "Stretching arms up high, We're on our way now, Leave the Czar to die" could be a reference to the fact that she thought she killed him and left him to die.

However it could also be a reference to when Rasputin was actually murdered the murderers shot him once and thought he was dead (or so the story claims) returning to find that he was still living.

Also "Leave the Czar to die" I'm assuming refers to how he predicted his assassination in writing and and stated that the royal family would not live two years after his assassination. Both of which came true.
