Awesome song. I view it from a slightly different perspective... I believe it is a tale of a tragic wedding day rape, by the groom before the actual marriage (I'm not waiting for tonight). However, it is from the perspective of the bride's parents, who are recalling the tale. The first two verses are the parents remembering their beloved daughter and verse three is flashback of the tragic event. The "barren" belly is perhaps the significance that this was their only child and she is now childless as a result of this gruesome murder and is now being consoled by the father. .....maybe |
