I havent been able to figure some of the lines out but from what i can tell there are 2 point of views. one is an alcoholic (speaker 1) and the other is an abuse victim (Speaker 2). i think. heh. (Speaker 1:) Now heaven knows I've got one short damn fuse So come sit down a spell while I light up the room (the speaker has anger issues and need alcohol to calm him down. when ppl get a buzz they say they are "lit up" so i think thats what he means when mentions light or bright bulbs. When he says "come sit down a spell" he means he wants a drink.) If walls could talk, they'd be know-it-alls So we live in the sticks, and aren't some fish you can catch (speaker 1, the alcoholic, abuses speaker 2. and its kept a secret. only the walls in their house know about it.) (Speaker 2:) And it makes my skin crawl I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so what's the use? And she knew, she knew... (the victim is too scared or loves speaker 1 so much that he/she will not report it.) He fights like hell because he wants to glow And would tackle the sun to be a bright bulb (he starts shit with speaker 2 and gets mad so he can have an excuse for a drink. and will drink til his death if it means feeding his addiction) I wonder if he'll wake us up in time? (speaker 2 wonders if his bullshit will push him/her to help speaker 2 conquer the addiction b4 its too late.) CHORUS: He's gray And has to hide somewhere in between black and white Cause it's safe, but never ??? before it's over I hope he takes you too (Speaker 1) They say attack can be your best defense (if u "attack" the addiction with rehab it will probably save your ass from getting hurt by the alcoholic) And I've got my best smile, both my dad's fists (hes happy with beer and maybe his dad was an alcoholic) John Doe escapes, carry his name And when it's time to sign, ask where, not why (i think it means speaker 1 goes to rehab....idk beats me.) And it makes my blood boil Those black letter days all their mail just winds up lost (CHORUS) You see whispers in the winter The temper doesn't laugh And every spring, I hear them sing, I hear them sing (Oooh-oooh-oooh oooh-oooh-oooh-oooh) Every spring, I hear them sing, I hear them sing Every spring, I hear them sing If he's going down If he's going under the ground I hope he takes you too Whoa, whoa, whoa (hes says "whoa" cuz hes ridding his girlfriend like a pony....hahaha jk ignore that!) I hope he takes you too Ill finish the rest some other time. |

The speaker is obviously doubting religion. Using sarcasm as well. The speaker was just accepting Religion and the doubts got to him so he changed his mind. |

Its about a dudes fighting over a chick. And the chick cheated on one with the other so they fight over her. Its not he best idea but it'll do. there is a fight we fight each night with all our might, until we simply give in, (the guy and girl accuse each other of cheating, then end up letting it go. oor the two guys fight all the time over her and eventually stop) a fair game between cheaters "friend," and it's a gamble who'll win. (the guys find her a "fair game" so they fight over her and the best man will win) follow me to the oilspill, please keep us up to date, take deep sighs near the wishing well, you'll be glad that you did. (they guys will find a place to fight and one is telling the other to be scared cause hes going to kick his ass.) we had our minds set on our goals, oh nevermind, oh nevermind. (The couple had plans for the future but that was postponed cause she cheated) unless of course we change in time, oh nevermind, oh nevermind. (but she could still change her whorish ways, and "oh nvm" means that thats not gonna work either) i keep a filter inside for sniffing you out. give in. (The bf had his ways of finding out she cheated and has proof so the bitch cant lie about it) |

I somewhat agree with Gole. But heres the way I see it. Im also not really religious but this makes sense to me. Glow but don't shine (Talking about God.) A fuse for a blueprint, devices my hands built. (About the bible being his guide) For these roads want the rain and my raincoat, drown in the flash flood. (about the world flooding) For we are alive, (we can be with the lord for eternity) given air and not used to alfresco. (Salvation is practically given to us but we dont accept it out of ignorance) Does the sun know that today I forgot the zeros and ones? (wondering if Jesus knows if he sinned that day) Told you to conquer the rush (he could of stopped himself from sinning)and on Sunday I remembered paper beats rock. (he remembered that with the lord in his life he can do good) Reached a mile high if I reached a foot. (Hes taken a big step just by confessing) Leopard skin is not above or beyond him, he's no more a prince than a frog is. (God will always love us if we r rich or poor, he loves us all the same) For these roads should not have shed for a witness, taken bites to avenge us. (about jesus dying for our sins) For we are alive, given air and not used to alfresco. Does the sun know today I forgot the zeros and ones? Told you to conquer the rush. Sunday I remembered paper beats rock. Reached a mile high if I reached a foot. I'm figuring out the one thing he's not is above or beyond, And no one's packing up, taking on or making goodbye for me all alone. Today, I forgot the zeros and ones. Told you to conquer the rush. Sunday I remembered paper beats rock. Reached a mile high if I reached a foot. |

I recently read other interpretations and I happened to agree. But mine is a little different. I also think its about the talboids, celebs, etc.... Mountains of molehills (all the mansions and big houses in hollywood) A grapevine in my ear (the speaker hearing about what the celebs are up to) Spots on the tiger While the townspeople gather to hear (everyones wants to hear updates on celebs) While the nests in my hands starve for rest (i work hard to make ends meat, this will make sense in a little bit) Sticklers for cheap fun You oughta be ashamed To trade in your heirlooms For an all-day black market parade (famous people do stupid things and make themselves look like idiots, and take their money for granted) For a grand prize, a slap in the face For you Bold face type covers your text It must have been winter (talks about celebs in magazines) Still frame, no dice (paparazzi taking pictures to make money and sometimes dont get good pics) Where do you get your evidence? (a celeb wonder where the rumors are coming from) Move back, stay still (paparazzi still taking pics) It takes a luminescent hue (its takes the flash of a camera) The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest (about the expensive clothes) Still frame, no dice Loons light the skyline (all the lights from the big houses) While you sleep on concrete With both your eyes open (you, a poor person, sleeps on a crappy bed and cant sleep b/c your worried about how you will pay bills) I just kept pulling on both your feet Someday, together, we'll breathe, breathe... (the speaker trying to cheer you up and say we will be rich one day) For you Bold face type covers your text It must have been winter Still frame, no dice Where do you get your evidence? Move back, stay still It takes a luminescent hue The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest Still frame, no dice Roll down the window I know there's a shortcut ahead (we can find a way to be rich) The long drive home is taking its toll We just need some rest... (oh yeah) (about the rich people being home sick) Still frame, no dice Where do you get your evidence? Move back, stay still It takes a luminescent hue The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest Still frame, no dice I think the name of the song means that the poor people should have money and the rich people shouldnt, because they dont put it to good use. so i should be the other way around. |

I think its about a couple. The girl in the relationship gets treated like shit and cheated on and always takes the asshole boyfriend back. Let me introduce you to a pair that strikes crude oil, but I see pyrite. (They try to work things out but fail) It is the same old pattern - the goose that feeds the gander. (he treats her like shit and they break up and she takes him back. ) They choose to act but not I. (The speaker bites his/her tongue and does'nt say anything because its getting old) Planting the seeds you sow is easier than growing the row. (its easier to put the problems aside and forget about them and try to work things out) Let's go outside and it might restore us. (lets cool of for a bit) More for the fire that fights for the freeze now mechanical. So then the pair proceeded, another pulse defeated - can't say that I am surprised. (they go back together and the speaker isnt suprised) "It is the fly trap's color that caused the fall into her" (she is unique and the guy doesnt wanna lose her for good) What is the shade that you saw? (the speaker is asking what the hell she saw in him) Planting the seeds you sow is easier than growing the row. Let's go outside and it might restore us. More for the fire that fights for the freeze now mechanical. Bound by the salt not your earth, the hat mocks the rabbit while the bee stings the shark. Stop the start, these are my disguises. (talking about how he got away with cheating on her) Planting the seeds you sow is easier than growing the row. Let's go outside and it might restore us. More for the fire that fights for the freeze now mechanical. |
