Mayday Parade – Champagne's for Celebrating (I'll Have a Martini) Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is, like, the theme song of my life. I've felt like this from ever since my bf broke up withe me a good five months ago until now (and i still do) but i like to look at it a little bit differently.

She left her books, her car, her clothes, and a note
But all she wrote was, "Tonight I'm leaving on a train."
She says she's headed west
To make it right for one more night
And, well, I don't blame her if she is

I think of that as they are still togehter, maybe not (not quite sure), but one day she just up and dissapears, leaving nothing to say where she went but a note. She's headed west to fix things, NOT WITH SOMEONE, but just with her life in general. Maybe she was happier out there, or experienced something out there that she wanted to go back and remember.

But he thinks it's just one more sunset
And after all, it's her fault
If she hasn't caught on yet

I feel like when he's singing, when he says both "He" and "I" and "my", they are the same person. I feel like this is saying that when she left, he didn't think it was a big deal, just a stage or just "one more sunset."

So why'd you have to go?
Is there something I could say
To make you turn around?
'Cause nights like these
I wish I'd said don't go
Is there anybody there?
Can anybody help to get me out of here?
'Cause you're walking down a road that I can't go

Pretty much just saying "why did youleave?" because he wants to be with her but she needs to go on/move on. "Walking down a road that i cant go" like she left for the westside, he cant go with her.

Try as I might
I just can't handle this
I lost myself inside a drunken kiss
And I, all that I wanted was to walk you home
Save a sad song for the sing-along
Oh my God, I just can't handle this
I lost myself inside a drunken kiss
And I, all that I wanted was to walk you home
Save a sad song for the sing-along

I'm not quite sure how the drunken kiss thing would fit, maybe thats how they met (as someone up above said)) but i feel like the walk u home save the sad song part is saying like he just wanted things to be simple, not a sadm break up story.

And she sings, "You'll be my tourniquet,"
As the record on my stereo plays
Her favorite song for two whole days
And the track stretched out for miles and miles
And what she'd give for one more smile
And how she hoped he missed her
'Cause, God, she missed how he would kiss her

Note: the lyrics are actually "As the record on the stereo plays, her facorite song for two whole days" This is definetly my favorite part of the song. I feel as though its saying that she still loves him, she just needs to be away from him, take some time to find herself. whereever she is, how ever far awway from him, she still misses him and misses being together. she listens to her song to remember of him, and misses how he would kiss her

for me pretty much all of mayday parade;s songs seem very relateable to real life, but this one protrays a break up extremely well
