Did Robbie actually write the song?? It might have been written by someone else who has theses views!! Just a possibility!! Maybe Robbie is just singing the song, rather than singing them and believing them!! |

I thought that the explanation was a bit too much when I first read it, so I get your humour! But it does make alot of sense, although i think my explanation is the best one!! lol |

Anothervicitim - No-one asked you to be here!! The people find it interesting discussing the meaning behind songs! If you don't like it, maybe aim your criticisms somewhere else! We aren't harming anyone. Plus songs are like poetry, and people have been analysis poetry of many centuries! This is definitely a song to be dissected and discussed!!
Oh and perhaps you should change your name to anotherbusybody!! You are certainly no victim!! lol |

No, don't think the song mentions "the purgatory." It wouldn't make any sense anyway, the "the" before the purgatory, as purgatory is a place where people repent their sins, before they can enter heaven!! It would be like saying "the heaven." |

It's a very confusing song! The song on the surface seems to be talking about Christianity and belief in God. But then the song makes reference to the "bodhi tree." This is to do with Buddhism, as the Buddha, well one of the Buddha's reaches enlightenment under!! Maybe Robbie is being torn between Christianity and Buddhism! I think that the line "is to look good naked," refers to the Buddhist philosophy that beauty never lasts, and that holding onto looking good is just an illusion!! The part where Robbie sings about bodies, I think thats to do with reincarnation, the cycle of life! Robbie is saying that he wants to hold onto his looks, but wants Buddha/God to help him from feeling like this. To be honest the whole song is mainly about Buddhism, just that people hear the word Christianity, so presume it's about Christianity! I could go on forever but you love any feedback! |
