I love the reference to Bathsheba. In the bible, David was king he could have any single girl he wanted but he gave into temptations and desire regardless of the consequences (God killing his first child) Likewise, Brian is in a successful band (like really he's basically a king) and could easily screw a random groupie or girl in a club. The consequences (ruining his current relationship aren't his concern because he's overwhelmed with desire) It's not just about wanting someone to hook up with randomly, it's the fact that it's dangerous but he can't help himself. They lyrics carry a tone of confidence, borderlining on arrogant...but afterall he is king |

"There's something appears in the way It's a plank in me eye With a camel who's trying to get through it, Am I doing it? Can I have it all now. I pull out the plank" These are also biblical references, in addition to the aforementioned "Garden"...Eden And she being the excuse (Adam blames the woman for his sin, saying she forced him to eat of the fruit of the tree) "The plank" is refering to judging others in hypocrisy: But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye? Mat 7:3 and the camel refers to "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Mat 19:24 |

"Even ten will not placate you" I think it's interesting that Placebo is latin for "I will please/ I will placate" As if the drugs will never fully please him. Makes me feel like the music itself is a "placebo" or a way to please someone who is looking for something else. And I adore the concept of "slow motion suicide" like he's slowly killing himself but, it's not quick and painless. It's a drawn out torture. |

| Mika – Blue Eyes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is either about a troubled, heartbroken girl who is constantly hurt by but, still wants to be with a particular person who happens to have blue eyes. She continues to cry sorrowfully, take pills, and pick herself up because of this blue-eyed lover. OR this girl is feeling inadequate and wishes herself to be better for her lover. She is crying, wishing she was different (had blue eyes perhaps?) to accommodate for her insecurities. |
