WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS COMPARE LES TO WOOTEN AND FLEA????? I'm so sick of this discussion, it's been ongoing for years. Les is the fast, funky, swamp sound created by years of jamming and fiddling with the bass. Wooten is peaceful, beautiful, and has an obvious form in his playing, he has obviously learned about the bass and taken bass lessons and perfected his style while Les never took lessons. Flea is heavier, but still has the same form in his music. The only thing you can say is Les taught himself and has his own, primal style that has no form or organization, while wooten and flea are taught and have that form that makes their music sound a lot more "normal" and not so weird. Les never picked up a bass until he was in high school and only did because no one else wanted to be a bassist at that time. Les = Prodigy, Wooten and Flea = Bass masters |

| Primus – Jerry Was a Race Car Driver Lyrics | 14 years ago |

A) This song is about drinking and driving like a lot of his songs because he is strongly against drinking and driving. But Jerry isn't as put together (lyrically) as others like Buzzards of Green Hill. Very loose meaning if you know what I mean. B) Les is definitely the best bassist, I'm a huge fan of Vic Wooten and jaco and flea but you can so tell they learned how to play and were taught and got better as opposed to Les who never took a bass lesson and taught himself jamming with guys keeping the beat and doing his own thing. He is a pure, natural bassist, unlike the others. I have a billion analogies running through my head but I cant seem to pull one out..... it's like 3 guys go and study math and get their degrees and are amazing mathematicians while there's 1 guy who had no schooling and just had a mathematical mind and can do it naturally. That's why Les sounds so different and Primus is so weird because Les isn't the product of band class and years of being taught how to play, rather a primal urge to lay down fast, funky beats. |

| Primus – Wynona's Big Brown Beaver Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This song is very obviously about a tranny prostitute. One of the easiest songs to interpret by Primus. The beaver is his "vagina" and rex is a customer who either gets a disease from him or realizes the prostitute has a penis and is traumatized. Only part I've debated over, but i think it's the disease. The only reason I know it's about a tranny is the last line "she pricked her finger one day and it occured to her she might have a porcupine." that line completely invalidates the theory that the song is actually about a girl and her pet beaver, unless the girl is blind. |
