I think the story is pretty self explanatory but to add my two cents,i seen him live last week in dublin and he talked about most of his songs b4 he played them. When speaking about this he said he was going out with a really great girl who he was madly in love with and still is,but the time wasnt right and that he still hopes that somewhere down the line,maybe 10 yrs or whenever that they will still end back up together.was kinda romantic,he had every girl in the venue weak at the knees.... |

I love this song and its probly one of my all time favourites....i was recently at his gig in Dublin and he was in fantastic mood and it was kinda like an episode of storytellers. Most of his songs have great meaning or great storys but this one really stood out. He told us his friends just had a baby,called Will.and will wouldnt stop crying at night and would never sleep so they asked joshua to come over and sing him some sort of lullaby.this wasnt long after hurricane katriona hit New Orleans which he mentions in the song,''The rain in New Orleans Forgot to end''.he siad it was such a sad time and the president at the time,George Bush,was doing absolutely nothing and he felt so helpless,so he said he wrote this song to try and inspire hope in people and encourage them not to give up. it was a beautiful moment and he tells it so well |
