You wake up. First thing's first; you go to your computer to check your facebook. As you scroll down your news feed, you quickly read off one post after another. Some posts have meaning and could be deemed rationally appropriate, whereas other posts imply a subtle deception, in which you can deduce that what truly motivated your friends to share their posts was not something out of necessity that would warrant such an action, but out of an emotional loneliness hungry for some likes and comments from other humans beings. Of course, being the thoughtful and perfect individual that you are, you pick up on this subtlety and, for a moment, find the behaviors of some of your friends to be a bit distasteful. "Lame.", you think to yourself. Later that night before going to bed, you throw on your headphones, sit at your computer, and jam to some beautiful Radiohead tunes. Their music makes you think (like always). You realize something about life that you had previously been unaware of. You've just gained 10 points of wisdom. In a good mood, you sign onto facebook to see what the latest word is from all of your friends. There isn't much of an update, and within seconds you're bored. Your mind involuntarily shifts focus onto something else: your upcoming wedding that's in less than 1 week!!! You think all kinds of pleasant thoughts, and worry about all kinds of silly things. You've yet to sign off of facebook though, and so before signing off, because you didn't post anything earlier, you impulsively decide to post a status: "Omggg so excited, I can't believe it's only days away!! Bed early, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. Getting my nails done and trying on my dress first thing in the morning!! Jayna, call me as soon as you wake up tomorrow, and Tanisha, msg me about that thing we talked about earlier ;). Sooo can't wait to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams!!! :) :) :) <3 <3 <3. Gnite everyone!!!!!!". You sign off and within seconds, all of your single friends now despise you just a bit more than they did this morning. "What an obnoxious bitch.", they think to themselves. |

| Lupe Fiasco – Us Placers Lyrics | 13 years ago |

This song is an allusion to the sociological theory of Affluenza - when too much is never enough. Lupe's verse - Pretty obvious. He introduces the argument of the song; the fact that, by the very essence of the human condition, we always desire to have more. Purchase this.... And that...... And that.... And that... And that over there... And that too..... And... Kanye's verse - Illustrates how the affluence and desire to become famous and receive recognition often results in the exact opposite occurring; being left in destitution and without privacy. Nonetheless, we all still stubbornly strive for it. Pharrel's verse - Conclusion of the song. Portrays someone who initially became involved in drugs for the money, as a way to survive, and inevitably began to routinely dip in his/her own stash, as a way to escape. All of this caused by our Affluenza. Though this person became involved in drugs, they had the potential to become much more: "perfect paradigm, wrong place, wrong time" - very unfortunate, indeed. The very activity that he/she's engaged in as a way to get by has manifested itself differently with the big pharmaceutical companies that are worth billions. Instead of focusing on more important issues such as global warming, we spend our time devoured by this need for more. In fact, this affluence has ultimately caused some to purposely and directly cross the line for recognition, such as the VATech shooter. If only he could see himself as others see him; as the famous VATech shooter in Time magazine. |

| Radiohead – Paranoid Android Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
you people are so fucking retarded. Song Title: "Paranoid Android". Some preliminary definitions that must be properly understood if one is to correctly receive the intended meaning of the song: Paranoid - A mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions and projections of personal conflicts, i.e., progressing to disturbances of consciousness/behavior. Android - An automaton (a.k.a robot...) in the form of a human being. First paragraph: -Introduces the notion of being a "paranoid android", i.e., minds everywhere, needs escape from his own mind, etc. -Also, unborn chickens don't have fucking voices. This illustrates the falsity and significance of the paranoid android's thoughts, in the sense that he's somewhat delusion with his perceptions on things. -"What's that"? He's not too interested in what's being said to him/he doesn't pay much attention when spoken to. Second paragraph: -"When I am king....": He has an accentuated inner fantasy world. -"With your opinion...": He views others as generally being feeble minded, as if they're of no importance to society. Third paragraph: -"Ambition makes you..": Implies he has no ambition. He resents those that do. -"Kicking and...": Referring to another as being superficial. -"You don't... blah blah..": Bumps into an acquaintance of some sort. Claims to not know their name; he actually just rather not converse with the person. After being threatened, he admits that he does remember their name. He freaks out. Song transitions in mood, from being upbeat and frantic to melancholic and despairing. Fourth paragraph: -"Rain down, come on, rain down from a great height.": Recall the definition of the word android. He's a fucking robot. Coming in contact with water, in any direct manner, would zap him and cause his system to go haywire. It doesn't matter at what height he's being rained on from, but it will sure 'hurt' more. This is his plead with god for a miracle. Fifth paragraph: -"That's it sir, you're leaving... pigskin, dust and screaming, yuppies networking... god loves his children...": Being zapped has induced a reprogramming of his inner clockwork. He's leaving. Meaning he's headed elsewhere (becoming someone new). Pigskin is a reference to animal skin, i.e., human skin. His human skin is crackling as he screams and emerges outward from his dusty and old robotic shell. A yuppie is a slang term used to refer to young adults of high socioeconomic status (i.e., successful, wealthy, intelligent, etc.); notice how this contrasts with the "your opinion is of no consequence at all" line. He's no longer the "paranoid android", and he's now headed for the throne. All it took was a little belief in daddy. It's a miracle. |

| Foals – Spanish Sahara Lyrics | 15 years ago |

lyrics are wrong. correct lyrics are... So I walked through to the haze And a million dirty waves Now I see you lying there Like a lilo, losing air... air Black rocks on the shoreline surf Still that summer I cannot bear And I wipe the sand from my eyes It's the Spanish Sahara, the place that you'd wanna leave the horror, yeah... Forget the horror here Forget the horror here Leave it all down here It's future rust and then it's future dust Forget the horror here Forget the horror here Leave it all down here It's future rust and then it's future dust... Now the waves, they drag you down Carry you to broken ground Though I'll find you in the sand Wipe you clean with dirty hands So god damn this boiling space It's the Spanish Sahara, the place that you'd wanna leave the horror, yeah... Forget the horror here Forget the horror here Leave it all down here It's future rust and it's future dust I'm the fury in your head I'm the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am... I'm the fury in your head I'm the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am... I'm the fury in your head I'm the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am... Forget the horror here Forget the horror here Leave it all down here It's future rust and it's future dust Calm the fury in your head Calm the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am... Quiet the fury in your head Quiet the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am... Quiet the fury in your head Quiet the fury in your bed I'm the ghost in the back of your head Cause I am. |

Those lyrics aren't far off from what I hear. Don't know what to say But you won't go in the ground (We all throw in our rights for this/wrongs)* (Been there before/three days to bloom/greatest of loves)* Don't say you won't be scared then leave Don't mention all the good there would be Don't say he's alone (Been there before/three days to bloom/greatest of loves)* For the most part, I believe these lyrics are correct. They seem to fit the song's theme, also. This song's about growing and learning from life, essentially starting anew; hence the title name "Daisy". This interpretation seems to compliment the actual ending lyrics nicely. I think Jesse's trying to mimic a conversation between two people in this last part. The main lyrics are the words of the hopeless person, whereas the background lyrics are the spoken words of Jesse, whom is giving advice. The hopeless person seems to have trouble getting over something in his/her life, and just can't let go. He/she states that "If the sky opened up and started pouring rain, like HE knew it was time to start things over again" and "Well, if we take all these things and we bury them fast And we pray that they turn to seeds, to roots and then grass It'd be all right, yes alright It'd be easier that way" signifying that if only these things could happen, then he/she could finally move on, forget about it, and grow from it. Looking at the background vocals, or at least what I've perceived them to be (roughly), it seems as though they're directed towards the first person. Jesse's telling him/her to stop being stubborn and scared, and actually conquer this obstacle rather than talk about it. He's giving sound advice, because he's been there before. For example, the first person mentions if he could just bury these things, it'd be fine. Jesse replies by admitting the fact that the only thing that he should be throwing into the ground, is himself/herself. Metaphorically, I think this is somewhat an allusion to a concept similiar to Jesus and his resurrection. It's as if he's stating that even if you feel as though you've died, you can "bury yourself", take some time, and grow to become something beautiful (Daisy)... perhaps for a second time. Jesse also advises "Don't mention all the good there would be, don't say you won't be scared then leave". As if he's telling the other person not to just talk about all the good there would be if he could just overcome this chapter of his life, but to actually overcome it, because it's not going to be easy, but once you're down there (in the ground/depressed) don't leave/give up/etc., because then you'll never blossom into something beautiful. Who knows, I could be entirely wrong. I might just be a fucking nut, let me know if you guys can see where I'm coming from. |
