Sonata Arctica – Caleb Lyrics 14 years ago
I took that to mean both the father and son were named Caleb.

Sonata Arctica – The Misery Lyrics 15 years ago
My interpretation of this song was that he had fallen in love with a character he created. Maybe just because I've created characters that almost had a life of their own and created themselves.

He creates this character and, as she gets a life of her own, he falls in love with her. That's why he apologizes to her - as part of his story, he puts her through rain and pain and all sorts of things. But he promises she'll get a happy ending if she loves him back, an impossible thing except in his fantasies.

He desperately clings to her as though she were a real person and begs her to stay with him. She "makes" him continue writing her story because he feels he HAS to keep writing about her.

At the end, he finishes the story... and leaves her behind.

That's what I got out of it, anyway.

Train – Drops of Jupiter Lyrics 15 years ago
This song makes me think of two friends.

Two people, a boy and a girl, grow up together. They're best friends and have lots of goofy hijinks together, as he reminisces on in the part "can you imagine no love, pride..." I get this image of them staying up in the middle night to watch the stars, and then one of them getting hungry for fried chicken, stuff like that. Just fun random things they did together.

As they grow up, the boy, at least, starts falling in love with the girl. It doesn't say whether she feels the same, but either way, she feels at least that there's more to life. She wants to get out and explore the world, to grow, and she does so.

The boy, however, is stuck back in the town where they grew up in, and he can't get away any time soon. I think it's not only physically that he can't - he mentally blocks himself and doesn't want to risk going out into the dangerous world. But. That's why she's "out in the atmosphere" and at "Jupiter" - she might as well be off the planet, because he couldn't see her either way.

Eventually she returns back to the town, and when she comes back, he asks her questions: Was it as nice as people say it is? Did you fall in love with someone else? Hoping she'll say no to these. But finally, he asks her the question he wants to know the most: do you still care?

Did you miss me, while you were gone?

Unfortunately, as there is no female vocal to this song, we'll never know the answer. But we can hope.

I don't think the point of this song is to have a message, exactly - it's more just telling a story of two people. But I think, if there is a message, it's this: don't be afraid to go out and explore the world. Maybe you'll be disappointed, maybe you'll be hurt. But you'll never know unless you see it for yourself.

Bryan Adams – Brothers Under The Sun Lyrics 16 years ago
This song always gives me a Native American/American Indian/Indian type of feel of it, probably due to the nature theme of the song. I always felt this song was saying regardless of distance, regardless of any barriers, the singer and his brother will always be brothers, always connected through the earth and through their own memories.
