to me, this song is about a girl and a guy breaking up when neither of them want it, but it's something that's become inevitable. i relate to this song really personally. i cheated on my boyfriend of a year & 3 months, and when i eventually left him for the other guy, i was still so in love with me, and it broke my heart to break up with him, but i thought it was what i wanted at the time. and when i broke up with him, we both sat and cried and hugged eachother, and the whole part "i'm not sure i'll find words to cover the hurt that i see in your eyes, but i've gotta try.. i know rocks turn to sand and hearts can change hands, and you're not to blame when the sky fills with rain, but if we stay or walk away, there's one thing that's true.. i still love you" is exactly how i felt while he was crying and begging me for another chance, when i was the one who did him wrong. and then both the second verse and the bridge was the same things i felt when we were getting back together 4 months later. i think those two parts are about the reconciliation from the split in the first verse and chorus. |
