I agree with bb0911 since most of this album is about dying. And not many know this but Ben was actually a big alcoholic, the picture of Dear Agony album is actually of his brain (got this from an interview of him and the Dear Agony album). He did that on purpose in order to show others of what the effects of binge drinking can be. From what i can assume is that he now probably has a disease, and because of that he has stopped drinking, Dear Agony (i don't remember if he meant the song or the whole album) is suppose to be about sobriety. He is coming clean, but i think its already to late considering most of the songs are about dying. Not really clear if he is or not, but if i can assume from the album cover and songs his life time has been cut back considerably because of the disease that caused this pain, alcoholism. Love the album btw! Ben is a genius XD (he also had help from Red, which i love that band too XD) |

I absolutely love this song (how could i not, i love this band!), even made an amv of it ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9D8dINTrLQ if you want to check it out) . I could agree with Seprough about it being basically a inspirational/motivational type of song, but with a dark twist to it. But reading something yesterday, it made me realize it has a deeper meaning than just never giving up, stand for what you believe it in etc. I came across an article, an interview with Ben Burley talking about BB their new album "Dear Agony" (which interesting fact the album cover is actually a MRI of Ben's brain), it states that the album is mostly about Sobriety. Ben used to be a big alcoholic for the past 10 years, and now he has finally overcome that type of life but not with out consequences (hence the picture of his brain, its actually to show the public the affects of being an alcoholic. I presume he has some kind of illness now, or his brain has suffered some damage of his binge drinking stage) So taking this information and molding with this song it fits (to me at least) there could be many interpretations with this song ill give you all a little break down of my own. TO me i think this song is mostly aimed for the public and his loved ones about his own previous problem. Here it is: Now the dark begins to rise Save your breath its far from over Leave the lost and dead behind Nows your chance to run for cover the 'dark' being when he gets drunk, and from his previous songs i can imagine he is probably a mean drunk lol, since most of the songs are dark/angry songs. People try to tell him that he needs to slow down on his drinking etc. he doesn't listen, so before he gets too bad those around him get away before it gets even worst. I don't want to change the world I just want to leave it colder This one is aimed more to the public, with his songs from before, they are usually cold, it expresses what he feels right? They aren't there to try to change people, if anything its reaching out for those who feel the same. Light the fuse and burn it up Take the path that leads to no where Something that is very common with those who are alcoholics, is there is usually something that triggers them to start drinking. Depression, anger, etc. Someone or something 'lights the fuse' which leads hims to drink, taking the path that usually leads to no where. All is lost again But im not giving in This is the turning point of the song, he realizes what he has become, and at this point those around him have basically named him the lost cause. However now, he wants to go back to being what he was, and the motivational parts come in. I will not bow I will not break I will shut the world away I will not fall I will not fade I will take your breath away So now he is fighting to become sober, he will do what ever it takes to go back to normal. Including shutting out the cause to his drinking. He wont fall back into the 'darkness', he wont fade away from the world due to his drinking, and in the end he will come out on top victoriously, and surprise all of those who thought he wouldn't get through this. Watch the end through dying eyes Now the dark is taking over This goes back to where he was still an alcoholic. Again this makes me think that he has some kind of sickness, and that he didn't get out of this binge with out consequences. He watches him self, drinking to his oblivion, slowly he is also dying. Show me where forever dies/died Take the fall and run to heaven now he is starting to wake up, seeing all he has affected etc. Taking the fall, and now he wants to rise back up. And ill survive, paranoid I have lost the will to change As he is doing this, im sure he went through those stages that he gave up on trying to stop drinking, telling him self 'hey ill survive, no worries' yet on the back of his mind he is always worried when is it going to be the end of him. There is a limit to everything and im sure he knew that, and he knew one days he may cross that limit. And im not proud Cold blooded fate (i think it is fate... ill explain) I will shut the world away He isn't proud of what he became, quite the opposite, he realizes the consequences of his actions on those around him and on himself. 'Cold blooded fate' is probably having to do with what ever illness he got from his alcoholism, the effects, and now he has to live with it. However he will still come out on top, shutting the world away to keep him from going back to the darkness. Well that is what i have interpreted with the song, there are others but this one comes the closest to being what Ben went through. I hope you all liked it :3 |
