The line is "when I left earlier." I thought it was left her here too until I say him live recently! And the two blanks: to them, be rogue waves. to them, be lost trains, |

| Dan Mangan – Basket Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Such a beautiful song. I've heard him say this about it: "It's a bit of an ode to my grandfather. After he passed away, I came up with this idea that your life is a basket and throughout your life you're putting letters and notes into this basket and every story, every experience you've ever shared gets fueled into this basket that becomes you and you are shaped by everything that's ever happened to you or around you. And what do you do when that basket starts falling apart and all those letters and stories kind of fall to the ground. So the song is about getting old but at the same time it's about redemption and holding onto those memories." |

| Bahamas – Lonely Loves Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Somebody help me I can't do it on my own You break your word, not enough You end up breaking your back bone Must have been dreaming And dreamt you climbed in my bed But in the morning I woke up, The whole thing was in my head Lonely loves, lonely loves Might be forever For all the better lonely loves We could keep going And let this get out of hand There'd be nothing new For me or for your boyfriend's band Stone cold sober But you still get me high Cause I could laugh with you all day Make love to you all night Lonely loves, lonely loves Might be forever For all the better lonely loves But my lonely love My lonely love Might be forever For all the better lonely loves |

Also, here's my interpretation of the lyrics: Though there were men before me That held you in their arms With a love so hot and getting hotter They're setting off fire alarms Though there were girls before you I don't remember their names Ain't it a beautiful thing To watch our love or a season change Every night when I lay you down Lay you down to sleep You now Im thanking the lord for blessing you with hockey teeth Though you might have had a plan Those plans are all in the past Cause who among us could know That our love would come and grow so very fast Seems like we got in your car And drove that car to the beach And ever since that day Never very far away, or out of reach Every night when I lay you down Lay you down to sleep You now Im thanking the lord for blessing you with hockey teeth |

| Kings of Convenience – Mrs. Cold Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I'm not sure how much meaning I would put on the title Mrs. Perhaps it just sounds better to sing than Ms. Cold. Regardless, I'm no ice princess but I can relate to the character in this song. Feeling vulnerable around someone, never being able to stay (or even get) mad at them, wanting them, not knowing how to express that and feeling like they don't want you anymore (or never did). So you make yourself feel more in control by putting up an cool and confident front to make them think you don't need or want them anymore either. I especially love the line "didn't know you had it in you to be hurt at all." Such a huge part of the equation - not wanting whoever it is to know that they have the ability to hurt you. |
