It's a shame this wasn't on the Chemistry album or put out as a b-side. It's amazing and deserved more than the rarities disc! Seriously, pretty much every GA fan loves this song. |

On My Way To Satisfaction, a track recorded during the [Chemistry] album sessions that was not picked for the final album is now available on St Trinian's soundtrack. Footage of Sarah recording the track was shown on Girls Aloud: Home Truths. The song is registered on ASCAP under the name "Red Raw" -Wikipedia
Anyway, isn't it 'forget those boys, go for the men' instead of 'we'll get those boys til ? them in'? |

| Girls Aloud – The Promise Lyrics
|
From the singles boxset:
It was decided that the band were no ready to pull off the definitive girlgroup look- that of The Supremes in the 1960s- and that a slightly 60s sounding sound would complement the look. One day two young Australian musicians at Xenomania, Jason and Kieran, played the backing track to Brian Higgins, and The Promise was born. Brian and Miranda Cooper didn't write anything to the backing track for a few weeks- they waited until the right time so they didn't ruin the moment. Eventually the right time was a sunny summer Thursday. They wrote the song in seven minutes.
The day before The Promise was due to be delivered to the label the entire backing track was ditched and replayed from scratch. |

| Girls Aloud – Long Hot Summer Lyrics
|
From the singles boxset: Long Hot Summer was written by Xenomania when the team were in LA.
Xenomania visited the Disney offices in LA and were asked to write a song that would feature in the Lindsay Lohan 'Herbie' movie. This was the eventual result, although, for various reasons, the track never made the movie. |

| Girls Aloud – Love Machine Lyrics

I am amused by the amount of music snobs on this page.
Anyway, from the singles boxset: Some of the Love Machine lyrics came about through a process Xenomania employ, which is to sing 'nonsense' lyrics over a backing track- eventually the nonsense lyrics evolve into more meaningful songwords. The backing track, semi-inspired by The Smiths, is the work of Xenomania musicicans Nick Coler and Tim Powell.
I'm guessing the Smiths song was Vicar in a Tutu... |

| Girls Aloud – No Good Advice Lyrics
|
From the singles boxset:
'No Good Advice was written by Brian Higgins and Miranda Cooper when they were known as Moonbaby and were signed to London Records in the late 1990s. The band didn't take off and No Good Advice was one of the tunes that summed up the relationship with London Records turning sour- it also took on a special significance years later with Girls Aloud thrown into the mix. The song's chorus began rather differently- with the phrase 'I don't like fried rice'. No Good Advice was sung over a rave backing track and it was only when different Xenomania musicians were asked to contribute new backing tracks to the song that the familiar No Good Advice sound took shape'. |

Yeah, there was a really good post by someone on one of the Girls Aloud forums a few years back explaining why it was about prostitution but I can't find it now. It is pretty obvious by just reading the lyrics, though |

Surely it's 'Lolita lips' instead of 'little lips'?!
But yeah, it's quite obvious what it's about, although I don't see why they had to make the girl 'not too bright'. Bit of a stereotype! |

The vocals are really odd- either it's someone else singing over the girls or the producer did a terrible job. There are some parts that sound like Cheryl or Sarah, especially the first verse, but most of it just sounds like someone else. |

| Girls Aloud – Sexy! No, no, no... Lyrics

Nadine: As soon as we recorded this track we knew it would be the perfect song to release as our first single. It still has our sound to it but it's also bringing something new to the table and prepares everyone for the new album. It's one of my favourite tracks ever.

Cheryl: I love the lyrics to this song. 'I've got so close to love, I can almost taste the kill.' It's a strong song and I think it will be a really great one to perform next year on tour.

| Girls Aloud – Lights, Music, Cameras, Action Lyrics

The lyrics are obviously about GA's rise to fame and how they proved the people who thought they wouldn't be succesful (probably the media/One True Voice as this song came out after all that) wrong and blah blah blah. Most of it's alright but the production is awful and quite cheesy, especially the middle eight with the DUN DUN DUN! bits in it- they make it sound so dated. You can tell it wasn't produced by Xenomania.
We're taking that sound overground- reference to Sound of the Underground, obviously
