This is my favorite Lanegan song, and one of my favorite songs of all time. To me this song is about loving someone to the extent that, regardless of the obstacles, you believe you will unconditionally love him or her. You are so devoted to this person that you are willing to disregard the negatives; you choose to do anything for another person even if that select person does not realize how loyal you are and how much you love him/her. Whichever way that person goes, you will be open and will not put your guard up even if she does not realize that you would go to that extent for her. You cannot suppress your feelings and you are putting yourself on the line but it's worth it... I am listening to this song tonight because I can identify with it completely. I turn to this song both when I am feeling low and when I have never felt better because it encompasses both the elation of being in love and the difficulties. It's a perfect song. |
