"Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule.", which I believe none can deny is poetically splendid.
"Jewels and binoculars" can be metaphors of anything and I would not argue about them here. But what about "the head of the mule"? IMO, this must be the head of the dead mule appeared in "Un Chien Andalou", the hallmark film of surrealism movement. Any comment would be appreciated.

I always thought that this profoundly impressive song is about alienation and salvation a la mode Dylanesque. It may contain but cannot be limited to an anti-death penalty theme. |

I know that the line means "The ninth shot went exactly through the forehead." in German. However, since this is the whole lyrics of the song, I am wondering if it refers to some historical event or something. Information will be appreciated. |
