OK firstly Supertramp are the best band in the world. But I am not too taken by any of the stuff after Roger's departure. The same could be said that I don't like Roger's material after he left Supertramp. They need to work together, Rick and Rog if their incredible songcrafting talents are to be expressed in the beautiful way they deserve. I listen to songs from 'Supertramp' album right through to '...Famous Last Words...' my favourites being Paris and Crime of the Century. The partnership at its best |

This song is not an attack on modern religion, but a questioning of Catholic faith. So much of what they preach has no biblical recognition. The Roman Catholic church has paganism riddled throughout its past, and sadly some of these pagans traditions have seeped into Protestantism. Namely, Sunday worship. THERE IS NOT ONE VERSE IN THE BIBLE THAT SPEAKS OF THE TRANSITION FROM THE OLD SABBATH (SATURDAY) TO SUNDAY (DAY OF THE SUN). I BET $1000 FOR ANYONE TO FIND ME ONE VERSE IN THE BIBLE THAT SAYS THE HOLY SANTIFICATION OF SATURDAY HAS BEEN DROPPED. JESUS SAID "THINK THAT I HAVE NOT COME TO DO AWAY WITH THE LAW OR THE PROPHETS. This song has nothing to do with drugs and giving up an addiction to them. The OFFICIAL meaning of this song is about divorce. It caused a bit of a stir in conservative Christian sectars where marriage is considered very important, perhaps even 'holy.' I've heard a minister talk of this song, and claimed that it is typical of moral decline and loosening postmodernist attitudes. Supertramp did enjoy questioning situations and people, but it does not mean they believed what they sang. They did a lot of philosphical exploring, especially 'Crime of the Century' album and 'Logical Song' |
