I think that this song is quite obvious and is about the American idol and star in an second life cycle. at the start you are everything new and exciting: "You came at last, and your timing was impeccable your role had not been cast And you fit the mold you were perfect in most every way a subject to behold" now you are everywhere: "You came at last, you gave a face to all the media that left us quite aghast And you filled a void, and your musings filled the broadcast air for all to be enjoyed" now we are bored with you: "You came at last, and before you had a chance to speak your time already passed Bottom line appease the sponsors take a hold and sell the monster" at first they loved him/her in the end he was nothing, but the sponsors were happy any way they got what they wanted |

This song is so sad you can really feel how he hopes that the birth of nico would help him recover and take hold of himself... He even tried to do it before his OD. It always makes me want to cry for him and his loss not what we had lost when he died (one of the best song writers that I ever heard) but the loss of being with his child that he so much wanted to be with. amazing and so so so sad |

What is and always was amazing about everclear and art was the way he can make you feel what he felt with his lyrics and the feelings he gives to his songs. This on is the one of the best examples the feeling he conveys are so raw and real that you feel like you have been through the whole thing yourself. I never had an abusive parents to say the truth i have amazing parents, but while listening to the song I can see how he felt. |

One line seems most important to me: "But in the morning I fled, left a note and it read" What I think he was saying in this line is that he is the one that is f**ked up he had to fled because he cant love. when he's saying "someday you will be loved" he really means I wish I could be the one who would love you but I cant. On tiny vessels she was nothing and always meant nothing: "Yeah, she is beautiful, but she don't mean a thing to me" here she is more: "I once knew a girl in the years of my youth With eyes like the summer, all beauty and truth" |
