| To me this song is referring to the infamous DMT. DMT is the chemical produced by your pineal gland in your brain that makes you dream (for those of you who are unaware)and is the strongest known psychedelic drug, it produces 5-10 minute trips in which in some occasions you may feel like your "returning home" = "ive missed you so much". the pineal gland is also known as your third eye, but it doesnt see in a normal sense, its sight relies on DMT which is powerful enough to be its own alternate reality... opening the 3rd eye can take years of mental training or one long hit of DMT = "prying open my third eye". when one is under the short lived influence of DMT the user very commonly falls backwards into a trance after letting out the hit = "on my back and tumbling." a DMT trip can be such a profound experience that people who have been atheist for years will become religion lovers over night, or maybe in some cases it shows you how religion is itself a false deity = "and you thought that i had run away, chasing the tale of dogma" a DMT trip can sometimes also have its own personality/wants/needs. it seems to enjoy when you give it attention = "so good to see you, ive missed you so much" that would be the DMT speaking to maynard..? who fucking knows haha | |

This song is about the obvious need for tragedy and how humans are naturally more interested in horrible things than good things. Thats why the news is all bad things because more people watch the news if its full of horrible tragedies. Shakespeare also, we still read his stories today over and over and they are all horrible tragedies. Humans are born needing to watch people suffer, as much as we hate to admit it we cant get enough of it. |

ok 1. the lyrics really sound like "tear thine own right in two" and not "cut it all right in two" and 2. this song is somewhat john lennon esque. when it says "monkey killin monkey over pieces in the ground" is talking about war over territories. like expanding your empire shit and after all weve been given we still need more or want more, its never enough for humans. and actually humans are the ONLY mammals who kill their own kind.. |

ok this song is epic.. and definitely about DMT. a DMT trip brings you to a strange land and you encounter otherworldly intelligent life forms. some people relate these to aliens and some relate them to angels. also its extremely difficult to recollect a DMT trip because this is the chemical your dreams are made up of and for some reason you forget most of your dreams very quickly. its almost as if your brain is trying to protect you from this insane trip. and laying down "brain dead" seems like it would be because the experience he had completely blew his mind. yea this song is alot like a DMT trip |
