| Actually, the song has nothing to do with that. But you are right about where he got the song name, not the song meaning. | |

This song is actually about the fetish of being drowned. The getting away from me part is the lover wondering if they need this fetish to actually like them. The change of scenery implying that he is tired of just regular sex, the lover hoping that his confusion, or the odd fetish will not last. The 3 months equals eternity, he talks about earlier in the album, "Hello, I'm in Delaware" and it is about not being able to hire a prostitute, as he needs to save up money to afford her. Him asking the lover if they love him, is to comfort them into the drowning. The first " I have already lost you" is the lover asking herself if she has already lost him, as she think he is bored of her. And the lover is trying to be the best they can be, as he did pay for it. But the feeling the lover has with him is far more mutual than just a transaction. The last couple of verses are the buyer drowning the lover, and not bringing them back up quick enough, thus they drown in the water. But he never felt such a rush in his life, and he will hire another one, almost as if he felt no remorse. As for some of the comments in this song, trust me, Dallas is far more complex than just writing "love songs". Not to say you guys can't stop thinking it as that way. And the guy who called Dallas the new Dashboard Confessional, that is almost insulting. DBC can't write music, play guitar, or sing. At all. Dallas is one of the most metaphorical, talented, and smart performers in the business. And to say he is like a shitty emo band that obtains all their sales from whining and looking attractive, is like I said earlier, almost insulting. |
