I read this song kind of cynically. The logic of the lyrics is "It's true that our days of wrongdoing are over, that our babies never cry and that our kids never lie, so it is also true that we aren't afraid to die." To me, it says "I'm lying... people now still steal, they still hate, they still do wrong, of course our babies cry and our children lie, it's impossible not to!
