Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues Lyrics 11 years ago
Hmm, I like that interpretation of the "weatherman", I always thought it was about how "you should have an idea of what is going on in the government- i.e. if things do not look good in the Drug War or whatever, then be prepared for a bust or trouble with police if you're a user"

I wonder if "keep a clean nose" refers to cocaine use

Wait, "Infantry" does not rhyme with "jail" or "bail". Where did you get that info?

The second line is correct, it is definitely what you posted.

Bob Dylan – Subterranean Homesick Blues Lyrics 11 years ago
You know, I think this is about ANY kind of drugs (does not have to be alcohol, or LSD, or anything specific); actually, the beauty of the lyrics is that they apply to whatever situation you're in, and whatever you call "medicine", perhaps not marijuana so much since it is about to become legal, but for example it definitely sounds that it could be about kratom which is under the danger of being banned in several states. I am fighting to keep it legal since it is a great MEDICINE, but I am paranoid that my phone might be tapped, or that an undercover cop will show up at my doorstep one day pretending to be a customer, or that they might "bust in early May" if it becomes illegal by then. I also think the part about the "man in the coonskin cap in the big pen" is either police or the judge (some kind of legal authority) and since 11 dollar bills do not exist, they are asking you for something impossible (of course, it is probably eleven ONE-dollar bills, so you're coming short, but I like my first interpretation too). I also love the part "20 years of schooling and they put you on a day shift"- I don't know, I think that is about how even with a college degree and solid education sometimes it is impossible to move forward. I feel that line especially applies to me. In general, the song has a bunch of good advice for young people who do not believe in the System, with all the experience of someone who went through a lot of trouble simply to be able to enjoy whatever their "medicine" is, summarized neatly in those lines. Very, very neat song, I do not think that the message will ever get old.

Styx – Too Much Time On My Hands Lyrics 13 years ago
The weird thing is, while I can totally relate to the whole theme (besides drinking, I guess, cause I'm not that much of a drinker; however it always seems that I have no free time ever, but when I finally do, its too much time on my hands and I end up " out cruisin' but I've no place to go and all night to get there"), I feel that the question "Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal?" is kinda reversed, cause yeah, it is LOTS of wonder for me of how he managed to drink so much and "cruise around" and not get arrested. I understand why he is not a president, and that's a no wonder for me, but the first part I refuse to get. Someone care to elaborate?

Nirvana – Lithium Lyrics 13 years ago
Now, I do not really care what originally influenced this song's lyrics- I think the great thing about Nirvana in general is that everyone can read them from their own angle and relate to a part of them. For me, it speaks out of my past and present. The dialogue could be with someone I love, or it could be with myself (and I DID break a mirror with my fist one time when I was very depressed). And I've HAD that experience of sudden spiritual connection with God, and hearing little voices in my head telling me its all going to be alright. Then in the second stanza it says: "I'm so happy but that's ok i shaved my head" like it is something to bring one from a manic state, and I can relate to that since I would do erratic things both in a manic and depressed states, as an attempt to balance myself out. And just maybe I'm to blame for all I've heard, but I'm not sure- yeah, yeah, you know when you hear people talk negative stuff not even about you but in general, yet you take it too close to heart and start to feel guilty? But then you're not sure why you even feel that way. Then the last stanza really highlights mood swings, "excited, but don't care", "horny but the will is good" (to me, meaning that its feeling horny for a special reason, like dealing with extreme loneliness); and then in the end it is the pain of dealing with abandonment or separation; "I killed you" should not be taken literally, it is more of "I wiped you out of my memory"

I dunno for sure what the lyrics are about, but they apply nicely to our current situation here in WI; this state sucks and gov. Walker is at bat, missing every pitch. I'd rather be in Colorado

Metallica – Sad But True Lyrics 14 years ago
Actually, it is about an eye-seeing dog. Just think about it. Think of what a dog means to someone blind: "I'm your life"- true. "I'm the one who cares"- true. "I'm your only true friend now"- of course, a dog will never betray! "I'm your eyes when you must steal"- duh, too. The dog helps with the theft. "You're the one who is blamed"- obviously, nobody would blame an animal, but rather a human.

Ugh. This song is obviously about a parasitic worm controlling your nervous system. Duh. Or, in the worst case, about an eye-seeing dog gone astray.

The Darkness – Dinner Lady Arms Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, it could be about a fat girl, but it also could be about a girl that he went out to dinner with on the first date, and then they had a fight during the dinner, and she dumped him right there. Then, several years later they met again...

Hm... a good subject for a novel that would make. (Note to self ;)
