This song is the only song I really like off of this album. Shows me why I love ATL. I think this song definitely has to do with his brother and how he's been since his death. "My ship went down In a sea of sound When I woke up alone I had everything" I think this has to do with his having all the success after his brother's death. "A handful of moments I wished I could change And a tongue like a nightmare That cut like a blade" I think here he's talking about all the arguments he had with his brother. How he wishes he could take back all those hurtful things he said. "In a city of fools I was careful and cool But they tore me apart Like a hurricane" "A handful of moments I wished I could change But I was carried away" "Give me therapy I'm a walking travesty But I'm smiling at everything Therapy, you were never a friend to me And you can keep all your misery" Here he's talking about how he goes around acting like nothing is wrong. He probably went to therapy after his brothers death so that's the reference to therapy. It probably made him face all the pain and everything that he was going through. "My lungs gave out As I faced the crowd I think that keeping this up Could be dangerous" Here I think he's referencing the anxiety attack he once had while on stage at a show. He's saying how the way he deals with things could be dangerous. "I'm flesh and bone I'm a rolling stone And the experts say I'm delirious" Another reference to being in therapy. "Arrogant boy Love yourself so no one has to They're better off without you (They're better off without you) Arrogant boy Cause a scene like you're supposed to They'll fall asleep without you You're lucky if your memory remains" Here he's definitely talking about his brother. I think he's being sarcastic. Calling him arrogant. And how they are better off with out him. He's probably putting himself in his brothers shoes. How he was thinking when he committed suicide. and then tells him that he did it for nothing because his memory wont remain. people will forget about him. All in all, this is just an amazingly written song. We can just say what we think it means but only Alex knows what it's truly about. |
