| The Beatles – Happiness Is a Warm Gun Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I had always thought that this song was about John Lennon and his addiction to heroin. Maybe he's referring to heroin as a gun because you shoot it up ("bang, bang, shoot, shoot"). You know, "happiness is a warm gun" as in he gets a euphoric feeling from the heroin he shoots up. "I need a fix because I'm going down Down to the bits that I left uptown I need a fix because I'm going down" This is pretty obvious. He needs another heroin fix because he's down to the last bits he has left. "When I hold you in my arms And I feel my finger on your trigger I know no one can do me no harm" And this is saying that when he's shooting up (trigger being the syringe), he feels like nothing can get to him which is a typical feeling heroin users get. |

| Elliott Smith – Rose Parade Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I can't help but feel like he's not talking about Portland. I think he's talking about the rose parade that happens on Colorado blvd, Pasadena, CA every new years. He lived in Los Angeles so he'd be right by Pasadena. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Other than that, i think this song is about hard times. You're down and depressed, not really caring about what's going around you. Everyone around you is in a good mood and you're the only one who's sad. |
