Boys Like Girls – Go Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about someone who has been living in the past. Reliving something that’s happened in their life over and over again. They just can’t seem to let it go and move on. So in this song it tells them to be brave and just accept things as they are, even though it will be hard. They believe in that person to have the strength to pull through and see the light in the darkness. The person is obviously scared of leaving their little comfort zone of hiding away from whatever the problem is. They’re saying “Just try your best to forget it, it can only make you stronger or you’re going to end up wasting your life reliving something that can’t be changed. Believe in yourself that you can do it, believe that it can only get better from here on”. Then they’re saying “Okay, You need to stop avoiding it, you just need to get on with life, accept and forget what happened”.

You can assume the song is about someone who is dealing with depression but is not fighting against it. However, I look deep into the lyrics and I think this...

From my view, I see this song as a message from a loved one who has died, to someone they have left behind who are struggling to come to terms with it. They can see that they’re holding them back from life so they’re encouraging them to continue their lives because they still have so much to live for and that they shouldn’t dwell on the unfortunate things in life but should look forward with hope. I get this impression particularly from the lines ‘You can stop waiting to breathe / Don’t wait up for me’ saying “Don’t worry about me, you’re still alive so make the most of it” and also the line ‘Don’t wanna wake up to the telephone ring’, the idea of that ‘phone call’ that changes your life when you hear the news. Sad, yet a beautiful and inspirational song =]

Boys Like Girls – Contagious Lyrics 16 years ago
It’s about this guy who’s just broken up with his girlfriend, even though he still loved her because they had their differences. So he tells himself to move on and just let her go but then he misses her too much and regrets the decision he made. So he realises he can’t move on because he’s in love with this girl and he doesn’t know why or what it is but he needs to get back with her and make things right. He just has this feeling that he needs to be with her, so he goes back and begs for another chance, to make it up to her because now he can see how much she really means to him. He knows that if they can just work it out, they can be together for so long because he knows they’re not ready to let each other go and they have so much more time to be together. He tells her to just hear him out for a minute so he can make it up to her because he doesn’t want to lose her again.

Really sweet song, about someone who just can’t get enough of someone else. He’s so deeply in love that he can’t do anything about it, he has no control, it’s contagious. ‘Just wanna say I missed you / I caught it when I kissed you’. Such sweet, passionate lyrics. Love it [=

Boys Like Girls – Dance Hall Drug Lyrics 16 years ago
I believe the lyrics tell the story of a teenage girl who does everything to fit in and be popular. That’s all she wants to be at the time, she’s just turned 16 and wants to get out and have fun. How she looks, how she dresses it’s all to make a good impression. So she goes to the parties but arrives late to make a scene because she wants the attention. So she hits it off with some guy and they end up in a room alone together and she wants to believe they have something special between them that will continue on after that night but it seems he’s got other ideas. He just wants her for the night to have some fun. She wanted to be popular and get all the attention but now she’s unsure of whether what she’s doing is right. But then she’s put herself in this bad position and they end up doing it anyway and then she knows she’s made a mistake and should’ve waited for the right guy to come along. Then she should have done it with someone special instead of wasting it just to gain social standing.

(‘You can’t wait to fall in love’): There it’s saying to her “You’re rushing into things too soon, you should wait until you find someone special, when you know that its love because then it will feel right”.

(‘All I’m saying is do you, do you want to learn to fly? / Then you should pack it up and say goodbye’: Then it’s saying “Do you want to know how it feels to be in love and have that experience but it feeling right? Then don’t waste your time here, this isn’t what you want.”

Really good song, about the struggle of what a lot of teenage girls seem to be facing in today’s society. It’s a real eye opener and should make you think about your actions [=

Boys Like Girls – The Great Escape Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my personal interpretation of the song:

It's like it’s gotten to the point where you just can't take it anymore, all the stuff people have been saying or doing to you. So you’re saying "starting with now I'm going to forget about all of it and just move on". Like he's saying: Forget about them, it doesn't matter what they say. We're just going to let it go, move on and have fun. We’re going to enjoy ourselves because they don't know us and it doesn't matter what they think. We won’t let them get to us or make us feel bad anymore.

('We can make it right'): At the beginning of the song it's like you’re saying "To be a happy person, I need to be free of all of this, so now I'm going to forget it all and be at peace with myself"

('But we'll cry / We won't give up the fight'): Then it's saying "Yeah, it will be hard to forget it all but we can't give up, this is what needs to be done to allow myself to move on. Besides we can't let them win and allow them to make us feel bad, we'll show them we don't care."

That’s what the lyrics mean to me because of my own personal experiences but they might be completely different to your meaning anyway [= Great song
