k.d. lang – Crying Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is gorgeous. Heartbreaking, but so rife with emotions, in general. She loves her ex, still, even though he couldn't provide her with what she needed, which was his love and commitment.

"I love you even more than I did before
But darling what can I do?
No, you don't love me and I'll always be
Crying over you"

This makes me want to cry, myself, because everybody who has experienced a broken heart can relate to those words.

She doesn't have the strength to turn him away when he comes back to her for the physical side of what they used to share. It also breaks her heart that he is so oblivious to her agony.

Feist – The Limit to Your Love Lyrics 16 years ago
She's in love with a guy who won't break off the relationship, so she reluctantly leaves him because she wants a man who can love her, utterly, like she loves this person. "Only I can save me" means she knows she has to rely on herself if she wants out of this relationship, because it's at a dead end as far as what he will invest in her, emotionally. When she sees him smile, it doesn't seem like the smile of someone who adores his lover, but just of someone who is lukewarm about it. She wants someone who will give her a limitless love and reciprocate the feelings she has, so she leaves him.

A Fine Frenzy – Almost Lover Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is so painfully beautiful. I can relate to it from a relationship I had with a guy who was already in a relationship. We didn't mean to fall in love and there was no way to get out of it where everybody could win. The bridge part of this song is what I can relate to, because there are a lot of memories tied to this guy and every time something reminds me of him it's horrible. "Can't you just let me be?" is a metaphorical question, because it seems like the guy is still present in her life even though the relationship with him is over. "Did I make it that easy to walk right in and out of my life?" means that she feels cheated that he could just start a relationship with her without giving it his all, when she was able to do just that. "Should've known you'd bring me heartache" means she knew, inside, that's what would happen, but it felt so intoxicating to be with him that she ignored her doubts.
Oh, and it's an "almost lover" because they never really get to be together, comfortably, without a sense of guilt.

Rachael Yamagata – Pause the Tragic Ending Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is a woman who is having an affair with a man and the tragic ending is that there is no good way out of it for anybody involved. She's desperate to have him, even though she knows it's killing her ("draw me under, cut me open, take my heart, I give it to you...hold me close, I beg of you"). The title of the song explains everything, she wants to continue the affair and not have to deal with the consequences of what she and the man did.

She's willing to let him end their relationship and "be free," if that's what he needs, even though that will break her heart that she can't have him.

She tells him to "throw the ashes out to sea" which is a metaphor for the end of their relationship. "God forbid you hurt her twice" means that he would end the relationship he was in and further hurt the woman he was with.

"In the morning pay the price" is how the man is going to have to deal with what he has done by giving in to the affair.

"Wash the sheets, clear your head, you'll be OK" means to forget about the physical and emotional aspects of their affair so he can move on. "But bury me deep down in every song you play" means she wants him to remember her, because she still loves him.

"Tragic ending saves the day" means that it was the best possible solution, even though it was a conflict with no actual good ending.

Feist – Sea Lion Woman Lyrics 16 years ago
Part of the lyrics are missing, here, it's when she says "she'd lie" or "she'd love."

Sea Lion Woman, She'd lie
She drink coffee, She'd lie
She drink tea, She'd lie
And [the] rooster crow, "She'd Lie" (sea lion)
....
Sea Lion Woman, She'd love
She drink coffee, She'd love
She drink tea, She'd love
And the rooster crow "She'd love"

Not entirely sure what this song is about, I'm guessing it has something to do with the lion = lying wordplay, though. Also, I think that the Chromeo remix version of this song on the deluxe version of the CD is better than the original. Love this song.
