Everywhere I see it as whiskey and rye which isnt a drink, it would just be rye whiskey not whiskey and rye. Also I read somewhere thst McLean was from New Rochelle and there was a bar there called "the levee" but it got shut down (went dry) and people had to go to a different bar, in Rye NY. He definitely says Whiskey in Rye. He doesn't say and. Maybe N', but it still wouldn't make sense. Also the plane WAS NOT called American Pie. It was a small single engine plane, which have numbers not names. Not to mention McLean himself has said that the plain being named American Pie is soemthing people have made up and that the term American Pie was one he came up with on his own |

well to be honest there really aren't many actual free styles. Like these guys have tons of these lines they make up in their head and store their, so when they go out to freestyle like this......... I believe they were live on the hot 97 at like 3 a.m. putting this out. But you can tell they weren't reading from paper or that they hadnt had these full verses done out perfectly in their heads. If that were the case Jay Z should be ashamed of himself for some of the pauses. Also, you can tell cuz Jay Z has some trouble rapping with the flow of the beat sometimes The truth is even the best freestyles you hear, even if its live, the guy has had those lines thought up already in his head, so when he is spitting those lines are pre thought up, but usually not put together. |

This song is absolute and udder genius. If I were a chick, I'd get wet the first tim Neil say's "he came dancing across the water" But for real, this song is a tribute (historically inaccurate) of the colonization of Central America However I do love that verse And I know she's living there And she loves me to this day I still can't remember when Or how I lost my way. Sounds like neil broke some chicks heart, but i think some1 |
