I think this song is about some sort of sexual repression. In the first verse he is having these strange fantises of someone he feels close to and he realizes he may end up hurting them b/c subconscienously he feels out of control, this is the reason for the second half where he starts yelling, he feels guilty about these thoughts and obviously he's done something to this other, whomever they might be, which would justify, "Hate me!" Now he wants to die and be erased from the pages of life. |

I think it could be political statement & also Anti-Conformity I believe those two things go hand in hand, at least in this song. |

The album "Year Zero" is set in the year 2022, so no I don't think it is about Bush...I believe in an interview he stated that the G stood for Greed. Which is the Goverenment (also starts w/ a G) in a whole... |

Has anyone considered that this could be about cutting? It sounds like it to me, I mean it could be drugs...but I knew a guy that he would slice pretty deep and he would open the wound and stick his finger in...
Now I don't think Tool could be talking about that, but I think it is either slicing or drugs...finger could be a metaphor for the knife...who really knows except for the band? I came to this conclusion when I heard Maynard say: "I'll keep digging til, I feel something" . . . |
