| Tripping Daisy – I Got A Girl Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
See, I see this song as being about the singer's girlfriend, who is pretty much giving him a nervous breakdown because of how inconsiderate she is. The lyrics that seem to be praising her are supposed to be sarcastic. I always take the "And she's got a guy" as the girlfriend cheating on him. Your mileage may vary with that one. |

| Bee Gees – How Deep Is Your Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's definitely a possible interpretation. While I don't know if the writer HAD Borderline Personality Disorder, it it's possible that it was written from the point of view of someone with it. | |
| Wild Cherry – Play That Funky Music Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's kinda funny--when I was little I always thought it was "play that f***ing music, white boy", which would kind of make it like the audience is extremely angry at the band. Hey, it's an easy mondegreen to hear! But I digress. I believe the person above me is correct. Though I should note, the people in question doing the shouting actually said "Play SOME funky music, white boy" and not "that". |

| Poison – Talk Dirty to Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Frankly, it's like most other songs out there. It's about sex (though this one frankly seems to be more along the lines of nymphomania). The difference between this and most other songs is this song's awesome hook. |

| Sugar Ray – Aim For Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| To me, it seems like one of those "Keep your head up" type songs. Also, seems to be from the point of view of someone who is a bit immature but is aware of that and realizes he still has a lot to learn before he can really make a difference. | |
| Bowling for Soup – 1985 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| What they don't know is that 80s stuff is still pretty in. ESPECIALLY 80s movies and music. (At least, in my high school it is.) | |
| Will Smith – Parents Just Don't Understand Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think that this song is supposed to be somewhat in some parts ironic. It seems that his actions tend to be a bit stupid in the second anecdote...to be blunt, he exercises terrible judgement. However, his parents seem to be a bit out of touch, judging by the first anecdote, and the line "They took turns--One would beat me while the other one was driving" (I'm pretty sure that physical punishment wasn't as acceptable in the 80s as it was when his parents were kids). Point is, while parents don't really understand the world their kids live in too much, they generally mean well. |

| Taylor Swift – You Belong with Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

...Not sure how she'd be an Elvis wannabe. Please elaborate. And while it is rare, it is possible that she's really as sincere as she seems, unless this is one big Xanatos Gambit to take over the world (OF COURSE!!). |

| Indeed it is :-) | |
| Stinky Wizzleteats – Happy Happy Joy Joy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| A pretty obvious parody of children's songs. The dark undertones fit very well in the zany, let's-make-it-as-offensive-as-possible-while-still-being-able-to-be-broadcast-on-a-family-channel style of Ren and Stimpy. | |
| Weird Al Yankovic – Attack Of The Radioactive Hamsters From A Planet Near Mars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It seems to me to be a parody of the plots of B-movies. | |
| The Beatles – Yesterday Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| And he mistook it for a Lennon/McCartney song. | |
| Taylor Swift – You Belong with Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I have a veerrrrrry different interpretation (though somewhat similar to one comment I read). While I've read that this is about Taylor's friend who had a crush on one of her friends, the lyrics seem to suggest that the song is about an extremely jealous girl who is overwhelmingly consumed with her crush--she's obsessed, in other words. Let's break it down, verse by verse... You're on the phone with your girlfriend she's upset. Shes going off about something that you said Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do (she is convinced that she is the only one who gets him) I'm in my room its a typical Tuesday night I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like (even though she doesn't know her, she hates her just for dating her crush) And she'll never know your story like I do (...moving on...) But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers (using high school stereotypes as metaphors; assumedly, the other girl is pop-uuu-lerr and this girl is average) Dreaming about the day When you wake up and find What you're, looking for has been here the whole time (she's convinced that she is his destiny) Chorus: If you could see that I'm the one who understands you Been here all along so why can't you see, you You belong with me You belong with me (mostly self-explanatory--she believes that no one else deserves him and that she is better for him than anyone else) Walking the streets with you and your worn-out jeans I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself Hey isn't this easy? (her only want is to just be around him and talking to him) And youve got a smile that could light up this whole town I havent seen it in a while since she brought you down You say youre fine I know you better then that (she believes that his gf has made him miserable) Hey whatcha doing with a girl like that (again, professing her belief that the girl has got the devil in her heart) She wears high heels I wear sneakers (the shoes are a metaphor for how he would be more comfortable with the sneakers--the singer--than the high heels--la chica mas popular) She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find That what you're looking for has been here the whole time Chorus, again Chorus 2: Standing by and waiting at your back door All this time how could you not know (she...stands at his door for hours just waiting for him to come out because...she's a stalker? and yet no one wonders "Who is that girl who keeps standing at the door every day?") Baby you belong with me You belong with me Oh I remember you driving to my house in the middle of the night I'm the one who makes you laugh When you know you're about to cry And I know your favorite songs And you tell me about your dreams Think I know where you belong Think I know it's with me (this might reveal that they had a previous relationship that didn't work out, but she stubbornly believes that they still should be together; either that, or they were REALLY good friends, if you know what I mean ;-]) (The rest of the song is the chorus, although the "maybe" near the end might reveal that the singer is a little unsure) So, that's my interpretation. Fangirls, don't hate. I think Taylor Swift is a great artist and I love this song, but it the implications in the lyrics are quite hillarious to me. |

| The Beatles – Devil in Her Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It seems to have been written like a conversation between a lovestruck man (blinded by love) and his friends (who know better; they know how the girl is). Like this: Friends: She's got the devil in her heart Man: But her eyes, they tantalize Friends: She's going to tear your heart apart Man: Oh, her lips they really thrill me The bridges are the man's attempts to convice his friends that even though she was mischievous in her dealings before, it'll be different with him: I'll take my chances For romance is So important to me She'll never hurt me She won't desert me She's an angel sent to me [Angel contrasting with his friends calling her a devil] I can't believe that she'll ever ever go [Denying her promiscuous ways] Not when she hugs and says she loves me so [Clearly, she's playing mind games with him] [And now the bridge's refrain] She'll never hurt me She won't desert me Listen, can't you see? In the final bridge, the man's friends make one last attempt to convince him to not stay with him, but the man will still not listen, convinced that his woman is not a cheating [expletive removed]: Friends:Don't take chances if your romance is So important to you Man: She'll never hurt me She won't desert me She's an angel sent to me ----------- Also, for those who don't know, it's a cover of another song. |
