I think the song is obviously about a couple who are looking back to before they got in a big fight (the storm) and now they're saying "If it's over, then tell me and I can move on, but if it's not, we'll never be the same as we were before the fight" Relationships are never the same after your first big fight, and I think that's what Nick means by "I'll never hold her like I did before the storm" He obviously doesn't want to lose what they had, and she just wants to know what's up. It's a very powerful song, I love that they did this one together. |
