Im going to try and analyse this song, its so cool:) well, I dont really get the lighter boy, lighter day, wednesday bit. but.. "We had days in the sun But they added up to none It's just the fate of the atomic age" That could mean that him and a girl had heaps of good times together, but they all went to waste because she broke up with him. He tried to make the times really fun and bright (like the sun) so he could keep her with him, but she still broke up with him, and now he doesn't know why. "There were lights in my head But they lost their place I'm not good enough for Saturdays" He was thinking of what he should say, that would make her want to stay with him, but whenever he tried to say them out loud it didnt come out as he'd hoped. Saying that hes not good enough for Saturdays could be that even though his feelings are true, he's still not good enough. "I am just a microwave" This is refering to that he is just a microwave to her - only a machine with nothing valuable to give to her. And even though he loves her, he believes he is not good enough for her. "I think I've heard these words before They made me blue I'm looking at you from your tennis shoe" This could mean the words that she used to break it off with him. And this has happened another few times before, and it makes him sad still. The tennis shoe bit could mean that he so inferior and insignificant to her, im only guessing. "But I'm stuck to the sound Of your merry-go-round You're just a beautiful kind of blue" But he cant get her out of his mind, and thoughts of her just go round and round in his head, like a merry go round. He doesnt want to forget her, but he doesnt want to move on either. So even though hes really sad, hes still happy for loving her and still having her memory, thus having a "beautiful kind of blue" "And there's a lot of us, of us, of us" This could just be that there are many guys who feel like they are inferior to a girl, and when the girl breaks it off, they feel like its not worth going after her, because they think that theyre not good enough for her anyway. Hope some people have some enjoyment reading this:) haha, its not the best, but its somehow making sense. |
