Truly good songs, or any writing, generally splits men and women down the middle as to who's "wrong" and I think this song is pretty awesome at that. Now, being a man, I agree with Dan above. The guy needs a little time to think, but the girl is impatient, wants answers, and jumps to conclusions because he's not telling her everything. She's overzealous and wants an answer/can't understand his reasons or reasoning. Funny enough this situation has actually happened to me recently. |

This is probably one of the most vicious songs I've ever heard, but actually now it makes a lot of sense to me. IMO It's a lament about a girl, the ideal of which he used to love. But all that was beautiful/pure about her, she's destroyed. So the song goes through the bitterness, resentment, and self-hate that comes with feeling a fool and feeling betrayed. In the end, he's not angry, because he can only love what was once 'so alive in you', but that girl is gone. Pretty sad, really. And very appropriate to me at the moment. |
