Okay, I interpreted this song very diffrently, and personally. Katie was a little girl who said "I'll find a way". Katie was a little girl who said "it'll be ok". When I was younger I was very optimistic and full of life- bubbly. Till one day she found a little bit of something she used to drown. whenever I was sad, I would try to hide or "drown" my sadness or anger or fear. And I owuld often find it... Back again after I thought it was gone for good. She said "I'm alive and I am free, but you see I have control over me." When I was mad at the world, I would say to myself, I can change anything, I have control over what I do and what I am. Even though I knew I wasnt. But will you draw the line? Draw the line between trying again and giving up, worth or not worth fighting for. Turn a blind eye to all the faces that you know? See I moved around a lot, and I only lived in a place for a year or tow, and I knew that, so I could live somewhere and become completely invisible by not talking to anyone, barely even talking to my family. And she said, "go". Now I have the option to live here, or move to another place, were I could have another chance, and I am saying go, because I have found what I was trying to drown once again, and I want to turn a blind eye and not see anymore.. I sortof became an incantation for me, a little boost of confidence when i said that to myself, even though I knew I was lying. But will you draw the line? I think the upbeat tempo relates to how things seem good on the surface, a simple facade can fool those around you, giving the impression that everything is right until you pay attention. Another part I believe is worth mentioning is the bit about the pins hurting deeper, it seems that she wants the pain, or atleast something to rid her mind of what has happened, and the darker world no one should know, well it seems like she feels no one should know what happens, like no one does know, but herself and whoever was her abuser/tormentor... |
