I posted this, love this song, but had trouble figuring out the lyrics. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Oh and hell yeah, this is one of the prettiest and most touching songs I've ever heard. Simple but wonderful and rich.

I'm pretty sure the lyrics are "truth be told, my problem's old" not "my problem's solved."

The Smiths – Cemetry Gates Lyrics 16 years ago
First off, I don't believe for a second that the misspelling of cemetery was unintentional. It's consistent with how it's pronounced in the song. The same thing with the hard g in plagiarize - I think it's deliberate, simply because it sounds better, and Moz has never shied away from affectation. I think the song is more about a happy friendship between a straight guy and a not-so straight one who share a love of literature. The sunny day is dreaded because it makes them feel obligated to go outside, when they'd probably rather be in a musty library writing and poring over books. Anyway, that's how I always took the song.

I don't think Moz is expressing a preference for Wilde over Keats or Yeats, at least as far as their poetry. I think it's a clear expression that Moz too is a weird lover. Not to say that it necessarily means gay but that he is not conventional.
