| Pearl Jam – Sirens Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think it's more simple, more of a statement that you can lose everything you have in an instant. A message of appreciation to the ones that mean the most to you. I see the "sirens" as a metaphor. | |
| Cuba Cuba – Outlines Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Not sure what the line is exactly after 'The secret was kept safe.' but once I know officially, I will change it. | |
| Cuba Cuba – Golden Grounds Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Some lyrics I'm not entirely sure of, but the band themselves said they'll be going up online soon, so once they're up, I'll correct these ones. | |
| Young Guns – Stitches Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Young Guns just did a 'Rock Sound Insperations' interview to coincide with the release of this song as a single this week. Basically, Gus explains that the song is about a difficult phase he had writing lyrics to the album. There may be other meanings branching off the song with some of the lyrics, but that's pretty much the basis of it. Here is the link to the interview they did. It has a really good stripped down sort of acoustic version of Stitches on it. Well worth a listen. http://www.rocksound.tv/news/article/rock-sound-inspirations-with-young-guns |

| Young Guns – Weight Of The World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I think it's definately about a difficult phase of your life, perhaps when a relationship isn't working as smoothly as you'd hoped. A lot of the time I look for the hidden/deeper meaning in lyrics, but I think this is simply about a relationhip with a girl he has or had because of the female references in the song. I think he's feeling that he is starting to really doubting if the relationship is working for him. He'd love to pull through and get to the other side, but he knows that it'll be difficult and it will be the equivilant of carrying the 'Weight of the World' on his shoulder. 'Maybe it's gravity that pulls her to my chest, not the fear that she is the source of what little strength I have left': One of the best lines I've ever heard. It pretty much sums up the meaning of the song for me, conveying that he's naturally being pulled towards her because that is sub-consciously normal to him, in the sense of them being together, but she is sucking the life out of him. Like I say, I always look for the deeper meaning but hopefully I've summed the meaning up there. |

| Young Guns – Crystal Clear Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think you're pretty much spot on. Like you say, a great band that should go on to do great things. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Front Row Seats To The End Of The World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
You’ll never feel it until it’s too late You’ll never see it coming, It hurts my head when you tell me That everything’s alright. I’ve tried to write something meaningful but i feel i’ve lost my stride, Can’t think of anything witty or flattering tonight, You lie to me and i’m getting bored of this stupid conversation, It’s no fucking interrogation so quit while you’re behind. Open your eyes and look outside, It’s gonna fuck you up and leave an empty shell, Dressing better is a bigger tell, Your best lipstick for annihilation, I’ve tried to write something meaningful but i feel i’ve lost my stride, Can’t think of anything witty or flattering tonight, You lie to me and i’m getting bored of this stupid conversation, It’s no fucking interrogation so quit while you’re behind. Keep on closing, closing your eyes. I’ve tried to write something meaningful but i feel i’ve lost my stride, Can’t think of anything witty or flattering tonight, You lie to me and i’m getting bored of this stupid conversation, It’s no fucking interrogation so quit while you’re behind. I write some words on a scrap of paper, Tied it tightly round my little finger , Cant think of anything that would make it worth the fight. Falling slowly with the little numbers, Every time i feel like hating someone, Can’t think of anyone that would make it worth the fight. (From the band's Tumblr page) |

| The Gaslight Anthem – Bring It On Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I see your a Dee's fan! I'm in the 19's. Anyway, I think the 'cool' is the guy who's that bit better than you. I'm not sure, but that's what it seems like. | |
| The Gaslight Anthem – Stay Lucky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| To me, it seems this song is about the pressure mounted on a band after writing such a successful album and then to be expected to do so well in the next one, if not better? Anyone agree? | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Waterfront Dance Club Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's about a life long addiction and feeling so attatched to it that you feel you won't be the same without it. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Constant Resurrections Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| *that go on around us. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Constant Resurrections Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Not entirely sure how the lyrics link, but this song is about the loss of innocence and how people turn a blind eye to the happenings and important issues to go on around us. | |
| You Me at Six – There's No Such Thing As Accidental Infidelity Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The bit with Aled gives me shivers. Just simpley cause it's him. Great combination. | |
| You Me at Six – Liquid Confidence Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The lyrics at the end are wrong. it's suppposed to be We are an example of... (Why not to fall in, why not to fall in love) We are an example of... (Why not to fall in, why not to fall in love) Just like it is in the 2nd verse. |

| Kids in Glass Houses – Reputation Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| In fact, I do agree with you on the first one. :) | |
| Kids in Glass Houses – Reputation Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I agree with you on the 2nd two, but not so much in the first one. However, these were copied from the video on YouTube of the song. Someone posted them up with the 3 bonus tracks, so I copied them from there and put them up here. Will listen carefully and see what i think. |

| Lostprophets – Dirty Little Heart Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
To me, it seems like he personally did some bad things during their relationship such as cheating, I dunno what it was specifically but maybe to do with thinking that the relationship wasn't going anywhere with the line; All the days all the times we spent, Making plans for another life, Staring out of a back seat window, Making cuts with a plastic knife. The 'plastic knife' part makes me think this because a plastic knife isn't a proper real knife. However the other half has called it quits and had enough. He has now realised what he has done and that he has thrown it all away and he regrets it all, wishing he could have it all back, pretty much. Post your ideas. |

| The Academy Is... – In the Rearview Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think 'bigmess' pretty much has it. They were together, they broke up on her behalf and she put him through so much, but now she regrets this and wants him back, but after what she put him through, he doesn't think it's best for himself or them. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Walk Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Again, based on the theme of the album, I reckon this song is about giving up on hope for someone, even though they mean the world to you and that you have to accept fact and truth, regardless of whether you want to or not. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – One For The Road Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Based on what people have said on the previous songs on the album, I think this song is from two different perspectives: One being that of the husband who has been rescued and the other of the wife who was waited at home. Neither know where their relationship stands and whether things will still be the same when he arrives home. Can't be sure though, so don't quote me on it. Just a guess. :) |

| Fightstar – Calling On All Stations Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think that golson567 was right in a sense. That everyone has given up on their country and how it's run and how they once cared about it and tried to do something but have now moved on and given up. | |
| Funeral for a Friend – Built To Last Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
What Matt said in an interview with Rocksond about this song: “[That’s] a song that relates to the relevance of the way we live our lives and all of a sudden realising that we could be destroying ourselves. We’re so content, aware [that] this is the case, but we still go on living the same old lives and creating the same old mess. A few energy saving light bulbs isn’t going to make a huge difference. More action needs to be taken, hence the line, ‘Who will be left to save us when we can’t even save ourselves?’ We’re doing so much to destroy something that’s so precious and beautiful, and we’re not even aware we’re doing it sometimes!” |
|
| Funeral for a Friend – Wrench Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
An interview Matt had with Rocksound, about the new songs and their meanings. This one obviously regarding Wrench: “That’s about the manipulation of the work force. I’m getting all political in my lyrics now [laughs]. It’s kind of how big business, capitalism in a way, can afford to treat the workforce with such throwaway attitudes. [It’s about] people who rely on their jobs to get by to survive [and] feed their families and how somebody, for the sake of making shareholders more money, can cut them loose. I think it’s a concern. That whole song is about the workforce and how it’s been cheapened since Margaret Thatcher got her hands on it. It’s a very strong song in that regard, as is ‘Captains Of Industry’ really. They’re both linked, and a lot of the themes on the four songs are quite intertwined.” |

| Funeral for a Friend – Kicking and Screaming Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is about having a goal and never really expecting to fulfill them or for them to go anywhere. Supported by the first verse. Mainly though, FFAF reckon the way of life in south Wales has a great influence on this, stating that it is a difficult place for things like this to happen, in comparison to the big cities like London, where bands can get into the limelight farely easily. The chorus focuses on how Matt’s ‘love’ of wanting to be in a famous rock band is more like something that is taken lightheartidly by his parents or whoever and taken advantage of but how he is determined that he will one day be in this famous rock band and won’t be another part of Welsh history or nothingness. Good lyrics there of how he contradicts himself with what he says. The second verse again focuses on they way of life in south Wales and how people’s dreams only go as far as schoolchild fantasies, however, again it conveys how Matt is determined that he is going to change the image of the town he comes from and show that anything is possible if you want it badly enough. The bridge section of the song shows that he wants to further his horizons and impress a certain someone by doing something crazy, in the eyes of someone from south Wales, and the only way to do this is by getting onto the other side. The lyric ‘We all go out like we come in; Kicking and screaming’ I think focuses on how at the end of the day, everyone is the same. It’s how determined you are at what you want to be that makes the difference. So, generally this supports what dan3the1man1 said but with more reasoning behind it, how they grew up listening to rock and roll and desperately wanted to be a part of it, and wouldn’t let anything get in their way. Also, the video conveys the typical lifestyle of someone from south Wales, meeting a partner, buying a house, marrying, having children, growing old, and dying together in the same house. Something the boys from FFAF were determined not too do. |

| In Case of Fire – Plan A Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| *I think this song is about racial beliefs....* | |
| In Case of Fire – Plan A Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The think this song is about racial beliefs and the amount of discrimination there is in the world today. I reckon the first verse is a reference to the Ku Klux Klan and how they burned crosses during communion with the line: 'I don't want to be right by your side Burning your cross then telling your lies' However, the song as a whole is pretty much summed up by Martin Luther King's speech showing strong opinions of racism and how it is one of the main problems of the world today, causing all sorts of globalised problems. |
|
| In Case of Fire – And Sorrow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I reckon this song is about losing his Father, for the obvious reason with the lyric stating 'The Father that made me has left me alone' and how he wishes that he could have him back in his life as someone to look up to and learn from. However, I don't think his Father has passed away, but he has left him and possibly his Mother to live for theirselves, a common thing in today's society. This supports the whole theme of the album of how messed up the world is today. A great number on the album. Fits in perfectly and really makes you think. |
