like MM's "people as places as people" this to me expresses the disappointment and pain of when things don't work out the way we imagine them to. fucking love this song. been listening to it straight for days now- gotta love repeat! and much like def leppard's "rocket," this song holds a great perspective to the musical influence of bts. maybe it's the girl in me, but "you were wrong when you said everything's gonna be alright" is just a part of this song that you could just scream and cry and feel relief from it. listen to "liar" after this, and you might get what i mean. maybe not lol |

when i first hear a song, it's usually the music i hear; a few listens later, i get the lyrics. when i first turned this track on, i thought to myself, "this must be a new U2 song!" but i was pleasantly surprised. Musically, great song. Lyrically? life-changing... at least for me. this song is where i'm at right now- 4am at work in phoenix. beyond that, it means the following to me: it seems to be a struggle to come to terms with how things have actually turned out. we all have ideas and hopes and imaginations of how our lives and our relationships will turn out, but that's rarely how it works. this song touches on how life can turn out so much differently than we imagined. it's unbelievable how fucked up things can get, how different things end up than when we started. isaac has a habit of writing songs that for some reason really just resonate within me. this is one of those songs. i also find the meaning of this song to be so different when i simply read the lyrics than when i listen to the song. crazy |
