The beginning of this song sounds like war brain which was on a Bush compilation. I wonder if Matt did this on purpose since both songs are somewhat about war and soldiers. |

This song is one of the best off the new albums along with Fine. The record gets pretty sweet after a few listens but I really feel Dan outshines Skiba a lot on this addiction. All of Dan's songs are so good off this cd that it kind of bugs me that he only lead vocals on 3 songs! |

This song really hits home for me. I had this rut where i didnt wanna go out i didnt wanna do shit but sit there on my couch with my pipe and a beer watching tv. All my friends r at the bars having a good time and i could of easily joined them but i just didnt have that urge. Maybe the weed took over? All I really did was say how these drinks and drugs bring me down but the next night Id be there by myself doing them again. I really dont think this is about a girl but just him being isolated from the world and being totally depressed with himself, unmotivated to do anything. Actually heres what dan said on the Remains cd about this song:
"I wrote this song in about 20 min when I was living on the far north side of Chicago next to a crack house. Let's just say I was pretty depressed. I was totally unmotivated,drinking way too much, smoking way too much, and the ladies weren't exactly banging down my door. But, somewhere this song is pretty fun to play. We never really play it as a band, but I still like to play it by myself sometimes."

This song never meant too much to me until now. College is almost over for me which means its time to get serious and to drop the parties/weed. I also went to a college across country so to actually see which friends r still there for me n have my back is creeping up. Then i must sum up the actual true friends that I made in college and will always be there for me no matter how far i live from them. This song I would have to say is probably my favorite alk3 song. The chorus just gets me everytime. And also the guitar for this song is pretty easy and really fun to play. If only I could fucking sing as good as dan! |

is really lyrically genius, drinking another winter all alone i totally feel the acoustic version of this song is way better as well. And the love love kiss blah blah would totally suck if he was serious but he obviously is singing this with sarcasm, a classic anti love song. |

This song is absolutely about cocaine. "all that followed fell like mercury to hell" I think could mean him coming down from the coke. He was so high and feeling so great (mercury) and then when the high was down he came down hard n felt like shit/hell (hell)
"your coffin or mine" is def about him ending the habit or the habit ending him
and just a thought when he says "cant breathe w/o coughing at daytime" maybe could be from smoking so much weed or cigarettes |
