| Bob Dylan – Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues Lyrics | 16 years ago |
@cavern you are talking about the story of hansel and grethel.. tom thumb is a character from one of the stories told to kids, where this tom character is no bigger than a thumb gets eaten by fish and stuff and then enrolls in the service of a king. tom is witty and smart and entertains the king, others get jealous of him and try to kill him and so on.. i don think the song is ramblings of a drugged guy.. most of what Bob writes are personal / political at his time which most often than not only he knows.. |

| U2 – Van Diemen's Land Lyrics | 16 years ago |
check this... AT BEST by: John Boyle O'Reilly (1844-1890) HE faithful helm commands the keel, From port to port fair breezes blow; But the ship must sail the convex sea, Nor may she straighter go. So, man to man; in fair accord, On thought and will the winds may wait; But the world will bend the passing word, Though its shortest course be straight. From soul to soul the shortest line At best will bended be: The ship that holds the straightest course Still sails the convex sea. |
