| Gorillaz – Cloud Of Unknowing Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I believe the song is referring to a book called The Cloud of Unknowing. It is a christian book from the 14th century. The song obviously has something to do with it and god, and knowing gorillaz it probably has something to do with doubting god or maybe the the mystery of its existence. According to the book God is on the cloud of unknowing(I was here from the start, every satellite is watching). The book mentions the cloud of forgetting(Ph, the days of forgetting, they have gone out with the tide). I don't really understand that part, you would probably have to read the book and understand it. My only guess is that he means that he is on the cloud of unknowing, as in gods place, because the book is about finding god and well... god will always be on the cloud of unknowing. Maybe he is saying, hes on the cloud because he doesn't know if he exists or doesnt. Because of this way of thinking, his world is open, because i know from experience, that your imagination goes to some crazy places with this line of thought. | |

| or maybe.... summer died, and that is why he lost his faith in god. I think maybe she did die, because of the video. ("Maybe in time, you'll want to be mine") Maybe he is saying that you can make it up to me, maybe, otherwise he will keep on believing he doesn't exist. Fuck this sad. But yeah the song does kick ass | |

@NSearchOfTruth I think you are right about the first part. Summer is a girl that left him and perhaps she went to another man who was eager to have her. To me it sounds like he has lost faith in god ("Cause I do know, Lord; From you that just died, yeah") So maybe he is still praying to something he doesn't believe in because he is lost and desperate. Maybe, maybe not. So in the chorus he says ("I saw that day; Lost my mind"), and I think he is referring to the first day they met because in the next riff he says (Don't stop the bird when it comes; It's the dawn, you'll see; Money won't get there; Ten years passed tonight, you'll flee") So the bird is the girl, summer, and it will be the dawn, or the light from the darkness in his life. He is thinking back 10 years to when they met. Ten years past tonight you'll flee. So she just left and he is reliving the moment they met, "that day". "Money wont get there" might mean that they had financial problems which would lead to other problems. So now back to the chorus ("Lord I'll find") sounds like "Lord I cried" but it doesn't matter. (Maybe in time; you'll want to be mine") So maybe she will come back to him or he is hoping for that. That is why I think he might be praying. So yeah that is my view and I kind of based it off of yours. |

Well I was high when I thought up this interpretation so don't quote me XD Whilst thinking about the universe, life, and evolution, I figured thats what it was about. So evolution. Everything evolves. Big bang, elements, chemicals, planets, stars, solar systems, galaxies, and of course life. So it all starts in one spot(or so we think) and everything goes in one direction. Forward. Even in the video the guy comes out of the water(fish) onto the land"Heading for the turf"(amphibians, reptiles), and we eventually evolved love"Ooooh ooh we've got the love in sight, Ooooh ooh straight for the love"(mammals). Even in the video he goes straight from the ocean, into a city, whilst growing larger. I hope that didn't sound too stupid. This is my first comment I think. :) |

haha ok EMO dave xDD Go listen to Slipknot because you're so dark! If you are so deep and dark why don't you try listening to some music that makes you think a little? Or are you just a dumd mindless conformist like the rest of the world. You're mainstream and you label yourself because you are a poser. Go die. Anyway I think this song is about religion... obviously. False Messiah being Jesus Christ because he never existed. All the followers of Christ are just "Carbon Copied Xeroxed Souls" because they all try to conform to the same set of rules and world view, which can be really repetitive and unoriginal. The fact that so many people conform to this world view enables leaders and such to bend the masses to their will really. Religion is just something that people invented for social control. Of course I am a militant Atheist and that is how I see it. |
